Achille Bianchi
Achille Bianchi (February 16, 1837 – ?) was an Italian sculptor. Biography He was born in Milan to a father who was an artist, and pursued studies at the Brera Academy under Benedetto Cacciatori. He was awarded a stipend to study in Florence and Rome. He sent to the academy as essays ''The entry of Christ into Jerusalem'' from Florence, and from Rome, a larger than life statue of ''Francesco Bussone da Carmagnola, Carmagnola defends himself from the accusation of treason''. In 1880, he settled in Rome, and had on Via del Babbuino a studio, once owned by his friend Giovanni Lombardi. Here Bianchi specialized in portraits for the cemeteries of Rome. Brera Academy
The Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera ("academy of fine arts of Brera"), also known as the or Brera Academy, is a state-run tertiary public academy of fine arts in Milan, Italy. It shares its history, and its main building, with the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan's main public museum for art. In 2010 an agreement was signed to move the accademia to a former military barracks, the Caserma Magenta in via Mascheroni. Francesco Bussone Da Carmagnola
Francesco Bussone, often called Count of Carmagnola (c. 1382 – 5 May 1432), was an Italian condottiero. Life Bussone was born at Carmagnola, near Turin, in a humble peasant family. He began his military career when twelve years old under Facino Cane, a condottiero then in the service of the Marquess of Montferrat and later Gian Galeazzo Visconti, duke of Milan. On the death of Cane, the duchy was divided among his captains; but Gian Galeazzo's son and heir, Filippo Maria, determined to reconquer it by force of arms. Facino Cane being dead, Visconti applied to Carmagnola, then in his thirtieth year, and gave him command of the army. Pia de' Tolomei was an Italian noblewoman from Siena identified as "la Pia," a minor character in Dante's ''Divine Comedy'' who was murdered by her husband. Her brief presence in the poem has inspired many works in art, music, literature, and cinema. Her character in the ''Divine Comedy'' is noted for her compassion and serves a greater program among the characters in her canto, as well as the female characters in the entire poem. Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton, PC (25 May 180318 January 1873) was an English writer and politician. He served as a Whig member of Parliament from 1831 to 1841 and a Conservative from 1851 to 1866. He was Secretary of State for the Colonies from June 1858 to June 1859, choosing Richard Clement Moody as founder of British Columbia. He was created Baron Lytton of Knebworth in 1866. Santa Maria Delle Grazie, Brescia
The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Brescia is located on at the west end of Via Elia Capriolo, where it intersects with the Via delle Grazie. Built in the 16th century and remodeled in the 17th century, it still retains much of its artwork by major regional artists, including one of its three canvases by Moretto. The other two are now held at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo. The interior is richly decorated in Baroque fashion. Adjacent to the church is the ''Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie'', a neo-gothic work. History A church at this site, which lay outside the then city walls, was founded in the early 16th century by Hieronymite monks.
