Achahoish ( gd, Achadh a’ Chòis) is a village on the west coast of Knapdale in the Scottish council area of Argyll and Bute Argyll and Bute ( sco, Argyll an Buit; gd, Earra-Ghàidheal agus Bòd, ) is one of 32 unitary authority council areas in Scotland and a lieutenancy area. The current lord-lieutenant for Argyll and Bute is Jane Margaret MacLeod (14 July 2020) .... In 1882, Wilson's ''The Gazetter of Scotland'' described Achahoish as a "...hamlet at the head of Loch Killisport. It has a post office...". Achahoish recently benefited from the government's PPP funding and received a new primary school with two classrooms catering for the 20 local children from the small villages and hamlets in the area. Knapdale ( gd, Cnapadal, IPA: ˆkraÊ°pÉ™t̪əɫ̪ forms a rural district of Argyll and Bute in the Scottish Highlands, adjoining Kintyre to the south, and divided from the rest of Argyll to the north by the Crinan Canal. It includes two parishes, North Knapdale and South Knapdale. Argyll and Bute ( sco, Argyll an Buit; gd, Earra-Ghàidheal agus Bòd, ) is one of 32 unitary authority council areas in Scotland and a lieutenancy area. The administrative centre for the council area is in Lochgilphead at Kilmory Castle, a 19th-century Gothic Revival building and estate.
