Academy Of Fine Arts, Nuremberg
The Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg (german: Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg) was founded in 1662 by Jacob von Sandrart and is the oldest art academy in German-speaking Central Europe. The art academy is situated in Nuremberg. Classes include studies in fine arts, sculpture, visual arts, painting, artistic concepts, art education, gold- and silversmithing, as well as graphic design. There are master courses in Architecture and Urban Studies, and Art and Public Space. Teaching takes place today in an ensemble of transparent pavilions that were designed by German architect Sep Ruf and have been classified as an historical monument. Located at the edge of the city, the campus offers an intensive work atmosphere. In the exhibition hall of the Academy and in the Gallery of the Academy, young artists publicly present their work. Kathrin Böhm
Kathrin Böhm (born 1969) is an artist who is operating in and outside of the art world. Her work is defined by collaborations and the co-production of culture and change within everyday situations, such as businesses, villages or urban neighbourhoods. Böhm’s understanding of culture is rooted within the concept of 'Cultural Democracy', and she practices art as a particular form of cultural production, which is important but not special. Since the mid-nineties, Böhm has expanded the terms of socially engaged practice, in which she co-produces complex organisational, spatial, visual and economic forms. Johann Daniel Preissler
Johann Daniel Preissler,Also spelled Preisler or Preißler. or Preisler (1666–1737) was a notable member of a German artistic family, originating in Bohemia. His children included Johann Justin Preissler (1698–1771), Georg Martin Preisler (1700–1754), Barbara Helena Preisler (1707–1758; married to Oeding), Johan Martin Preisler (1715–1794), and Valentin Daniel Preisler (1717–1765), all in their time renowned artists. Richard Lindner (painter)
Richard Lindner (November 11, 1901 – April 16, 1978) was a German-American painter. Biography Richard Lindner was born in Hamburg, Germany. His mother Mina Lindner was American and born in New York as daughter of German parents. In 1905 the family moved to Nuremberg, where Lindner's mother was owner of a custom-fitting corset business and Richard Lindner grew up and studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule (Arts and Crafts School), now the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg. From 1924 to 1927 he lived in Munich and studied there from 1925 at the Kunstakademie. August von Kreling (May 23, 1818 – April 23, 1876) was a German sculptor born in Osnabrück. He studied with Peter von Cornelius, and in 1853 became director of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg. Friedrich August Von Kaulbach
Friedrich August von Kaulbach (2 June 1850 in Munich – 26 July 1920 in Ohlstadt, Germany) was a German portraitist and historical painter. Biography He was born to a family that included several well known artists and began his studies with his father, Friedrich Kaulbach. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg, where he studied with August von Kreling and Karl Raupp. He transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, in 1871 and worked with Wilhelm von Diez. In 1883, he became a teacher there himself. Karl Jäger
Karl Jäger (; 20 September 1888 – 22 June 1959) was a German mid-ranking official in the '' SS'' of Nazi Germany and ''Einsatzkommando'' leader who perpetrated acts of genocide during the Holocaust. Early life and career Jäger was born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and moved with his father to Germany when he was 3 years of age. Adolf Von Hildebrand
Adolf von Hildebrand (6 October 1847 – 18 January 1921) was a German sculptor. Life Hildebrand was born at Marburg, the son of Marburg economics professor Bruno Hildebrand. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, with Kaspar von Zumbusch at the Munich Academy and with Rudolf Siemering in Berlin. From 1873 he lived in Florence in the St Francesco Monastery, a secularized sixteenth-century monastery. Carl Haag (20 April 1820 – 24 January 1915) was a Bavarian-born Painting, painter who became a naturalized United Kingdom, British subject and was court painter to the duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Johannes Götz
Johannes Gottfried Götz (4 October 1865 in Fürth – 11 September 1934 in Potsdam) was a German sculptor. Life He was the son of a carpenter. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg, in 1884 he went to Berlin to study sculpture with Reinhold Begas at the Prussian Academy of Arts up until 1890. His figure of a nude female water carrier won the Academy's "Prix-de-Rome", which enabled him to study there for two years. He later became a Professor at the Academy in Nuremberg. His work gained the attention of Kaiser Wilhelm II, who chose him to produce a group of figures for the Kaiser's monumental Siegesallee (Victory Avenue) project. Rudolf Koch
Rudolf Koch (20 November 1876 – 9 April 1934) was a German type designer, professor, and a master of lettering, calligraphy, typography and illustration. Commonly known for his typefaces created for the Klingspor Type Foundry, his most widely used typefaces include Neuland and Kabel. Overview Koch spent his teenage years working in Hanau as an apprentice in a metal goods workshop, whilst also attending art school, where he learned to draw, and soon after went to the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg.
