Acacia Gardens is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, 40 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown. Acacia Gardens is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Acacia Gardens was formerly a part of Quakers Hill. The name was chosen to reflect the rural quality of the suburb, with acacia trees being prevalent in the area. Many of the streets in the suburb are named after flowers. Riverstone is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It has been represented by Kevin Conolly of the Liberal Party since 2011. Riverstone is a 73 km² urban and semi-rural electorate in Sydney's north west, taking in the suburbs of Acacia Gardens, Angus, Grantham Farm, Kellyville Ridge, Nirimba Fields, Parklea, Richards, Riverstone, Schofields, Stanhope Gardens, Tallawong, The Ponds and parts of Glenwood, Marsden Park, Quakers Hill, Rouse Hill and Vineyard. Acacia
''Acacia'', commonly known as the wattles or acacias, is a large genus of shrubs and trees in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the pea family Fabaceae. Initially, it comprised a group of plant species native to Africa and Australasia. The genus name is New Latin, borrowed from the Greek (), a term used by Dioscorides for a preparation extracted from the leaves and fruit pods of ''Vachellia nilotica'', the original type of the genus. In his ''Pinax'' (1623), Gaspard Bauhin mentioned the Greek from Dioscorides as the origin of the Latin name. In the early 2000s it had become evident that the genus as it stood was not monophyletic and that several divergent lineages needed to be placed in separate genera. Quakers Hill Railway Station
Quakers Hill railway station is located on the Richmond line, serving the Sydney suburb of Quakers Hill. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western and T5 Cumberland line services. History Quakers Hill station opened in 1872 as Douglas Siding. It was renamed Quakers Hill on 30 March 1905 and relocated to its present location on 29 June 1939. Two sets of points at the southern end of the station allow trains to terminate on either platform. The station had a crossing loop until the line from Marayong was duplicated to Quakers Hill in 2002. In 2011, the second track was extended to Schofields with a new overhead concourse with lists completed at the same time. As a result, T5 Cumberland line services were extended to terminate at Schofields. Macquarie Centre is a shopping centre in the suburb of Macquarie Park on the North Shore of Sydney and is located opposite the main campus of Macquarie University. Transport The Metro North West Line offers frequent services to Macquarie University station directly next to Macquarie Centre with trains running from Tallawong to Chatswood. St Marys, New South Wales
St Marys is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 45 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Penrith. St Marys sits between South Creek which forms the western boundary and Ropes Creek, its eastern boundary. History The township of St Marys was first known as South Creek. Plumpton, New South Wales
Plumpton is located 45 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Following European settlement of Australia in 1788, attempts were made to integrate Indigenous Australians into the European culture. As significant land grants had been made around Prospect, a 'Native Institute' – which came to be known as 'Black's Town' – was built early in the 1820s around the Plumpton area, at the intersection of Rooty Hill Road and Richmond Road. The 'School for Aboriginal Children' was relocated to this institution in 1823, however by 1833 it had been abandoned. In the short time it existed, 'Black's Town' stamped its name on the road from Prospect to the institution. Blacktown is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, in Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Blacktown is located west of the Sydney central business district. It is one of the most multicultural places within Greater Sydney.
