Abraham Willet (1825 – 1888) was a Dutch art collector and amateur painter. Johan Georg Schwartze
Johann Georg Schwartze (20 October 1814 - 28 August 1874) was a painter from the Northern Netherlands who grew up in Philadelphia and was trained in Düsseldorf and the Düsseldorf school. He was a painter of portraits and historical themes and became the father of painter Therese Schwartze and the sculptor Georgine Schwartze. Louisa Holthuysen
Sandrina Louisa Geertruida Holthuysen (1824 – 1895) was a Dutch art collector and founder of the Museum Willet-Holthuysen in Amsterdam. Biography Holthuysen was born in Amsterdam in the Netherlands as the only child of Pieter Gerard Holthuysen, a wealthy merchant who dealt in window glass and coal. Her father died in 1858 and in 1861 she married Abraham Willet and they proceeded to live a bohemian lifestyle, enjoying travel and art collecting. The art collection included items bought by her, of which the most expensive painting was a still-life by Blaise Alexandre Desgoffe that cost 5,000 guilders. Holthuysen died childless in Amsterdam in 1895, a few years after her husband. Her house and its contents, including the artworks, were left to the City of Amsterdam, conditional upon the building being used as a museum named after her and her husband. Arti Et Amicitiae
Arti et Amicitiae (lat .: For Art and Friendship) is a Dutch artist's society founded in 1839, and located on the Rokin in Amsterdam. The Society (also called Arti for short) has played a key role in the Netherlands art scene and in particular in the Amsterdam art schools. It was and is to this day a hub for artists and art lovers in the city of Amsterdam. It is a private institution which supports artists, maintains social networks and offers a pension fund. In recent times it has been one of the venues for the 17th edition of the Sonic Acts Festival. Arti et Amicitiae is also the name of the building. The complex was merged from two separate buildings and given a white neo-classical facade by J. H. Leliman in 1855. Joseph-Michel-Ange Pollet (1814–1870) was an Italian sculptor. Schutterij () refers to a voluntary city guard or citizen militia in the medieval and early modern Netherlands, intended to protect the town or city from attack and act in case of revolt or fire. Their training grounds were often on open spaces within the city, near the city walls, but, when the weather did not allow, inside a church. They are mostly grouped according to their district and to the weapon that they used: bow, crossbow or gun. Together, its members are called a ''Schuttersgilde'', which could be roughly translated as a "shooter's guild". It is now a title applied to ceremonial shooting clubs and to the country's Olympic rifle team. Function The ''schutterij'', civic guard, or town watch, was a defensive military support system for the local civic authority. Andrzej Jerzy Mniszech
Andrzej Jerzy Mniszech (1823–1905) was a Polish painter and art collector. His father was Karol Filip Wandalin Mniszech (1794–1844), and his mother Eleonora Cetner (1798–1871). His paternal grandfather was Michał Jerzy Mniszech, a Polish nobleman who was Grand Marshal of the Crown during the reign of Stanisław II Augustus. He spent his youth in the family palace in Wiśniowiec and in Paris. In 1846 he inherited a lot of debt, and when he moved with his wife, Anna Elżbieta Potocka (1827–1885) and their son Leon (1849–1901) to Paris in 1854, he took with him a large part of the private family collection from Wiśniowiec, especially paintings. The palace the couple acquired in 1861 at 16 Rue Daru in Paris was owned by his wife, and after her death in 1885, it passed to their son Leon.
