Abobo is a northern suburb of Abidjan and one of the 10 urban Communes of Ivory Coast, communes of this city in Ivory Coast. Abobo is one of the most populated communes in the country with about 1.3 million inhabitants in an area of 6,925 ha (69.25 km2), a density of 193 inhabitants per hectare. Many of the residents are Muslim settlers from the north of the country. Communes Of Côte D'Ivoire
The communes of Ivory Coast are a fifth-level administrative unit of administration in Ivory Coast. The sub-prefectures of Ivory Coast contain villages, and in select instances more than one village is combined into a commune. There are currently 197 communes in the 510 sub-prefectures. Prior to 2011, communes were the third-level administrative units of the country. Under the administration of Laurent Gbagbo, the number of communes grew to more than 1300. In 2011, a reorganization of the country's subdivisions was undertaken, with a goal of decentralizing the state. As part of the reorganization, communes were converted from third-level divisions into fifth-level divisions. In March 2012, the government abolished 1126 communes on the grounds that under the new jurisdiction of districts, regions, departments, and sub-prefectures, these particular communes were not economically viable governmental units. Adjamé
Adjamé is one of the 10 urban communes of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It forms part of the metropolitan area and autonomous district of Abidjan. The name ''Adjamé'' means "a junction" or "the centre" in the local Tchaman language. The Tchaman people of Adjamé are called ''Agbou Djemian'' and come under Chief Nanguy Abrogoua. Adjamé is located to the north of Plateau, Abidjan. Adjamé has the most important bus station in the country from where buses serve all of Ivory Coast as well as neighbouring countries. Sport Adjamé is represented in football by the Stella Club of Adjamé which plays in the MTN Ligue 1 on the grounds of the Municipal Stadium. Aké Loba
Gérard Aké Loba (15 August 1927 in Abobo, in the Abobo Baoule neighborhood – 3 August 2012 in Aix-en-Provence, France) was an Ivorian diplomat and writer. Université d'Abobo-Adjamé or the University of Abobo-Adjamé (UAA) is part of the University of Cocody, one of two public universities in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. Anyama is a city in south-eastern Ivory Coast. It is a suburb of Abidjan and is one of four sub-prefectures of Abidjan Autonomous District. Anyama is also a commune. Attécoubé ( Ebrié: Abidjan Te) is a suburb of and one of the 10 urban communes of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is situated to the northwest of Abidjan's central Plateau commune, overlooking the Baie du Banco. Attécoubé has a total area of , of which is covered by forest and by Ébrié Lagoon. The commune forms part of Banco National Park. The population was 164,751 in 1988, 214,638 in 1998, and 260,911 in 2014. Second Ivorian Civil War
The Second Ivorian Civil War broke out in March 2011 when the crisis in Ivory Coast escalated into full-scale military conflict between forces loyal to Laurent Gbagbo, the President of Ivory Coast since 2000, and supporters of the internationally recognised president-elect Alassane Ouattara. After months of unsuccessful negotiations and sporadic violence between supporters of the two sides, the crisis entered a critical stage as Ouattara's forces seized control of most of the country with the help of the UN, with Gbagbo entrenched in Abidjan, the country's largest city. International organizations have reported numerous instances of human rights violations by both sides, in particular in the city of Duékoué where Ouattara's forces killed hundreds of people.
