Abidin Ünal
Abidin Ünal (born 1953 in Pınarbaşı, Kayseri, Turkey) is a retired Turkish Air Force general and commander of the Turkish Air Force. During his tenure, he was a Senior Member of the NATO Technology and Research Organization General Assembly. Career Officer and staff officer Ünal attended the elementary school in Kazancık as well as the middle school in Pınarbaşı and the middle school Demir-Çelik-Ortaokulu in Karabük, before he completed training at the vocational school for chemical engineering (Kimya Teknisyen Okulu) in Ankara from 1968 to 1972. In 1972 he began his officer training at the Turkish Air Force Academy (Hava Harp Okulu), which he completed on August 30, 1975, as a lieutenant (Teğmen). Subsequently he was first used in the 2nd training base of the Air Force Training Command (Çiğli) and then in the 3rd Air Force base in Konya, where he became a flight instructor in the 131st squadron in July 1977. Pınarbaşı () is a town and district of Kayseri Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The population is mostly made up of Circassians who settled this area by the Ottomans after their migration to Turkey as a result of Circassian genocide. Bandırma () is a city in northwestern Turkey with 161,894 inhabitants as of 2021 on the Sea of Marmara. Bandırma is a district of Balıkesir Province. Batman, Turkey
Batman ( ku, Êlih) is a Kurdish-majority city in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey and the capital of Batman Province. It lies on a plateau, above sea level, near the confluence of the Batman River and the Tigris. The Batı Raman oil field, which is the largest oil field in Turkey, is located just outside the city. Incirlik Air Base ( tr, İncirlik Hava Üssü) is a Turkish air base of slightly more than 3320 ac (1335 ha), located in the İncirlik quarter of the city of Adana, Turkey. The base is within an urban area of 1.7 million people, east of the city core, and inland from the Mediterranean Sea. The United States Air Force and the Turkish Air Force are the primary users of the air base, although it is at times also used by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Saudi Air Force.
