Abhishek Singh (politician)
Abhishek Singh (born 5 March 1981) is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament representing Rajnandgaon. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh. Early life Abhishek Singh was born on 5 March 1981 at Kawardha. He is the son of Raman Singh and Veena Singh. He did his engineering from NIT Raipur after which completed his M.B.A. from XLRI- Xavier School of Management. Political career Upon completion of his education, Singh entered politics and campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2013 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election in the districts of Rajnandgaon and Kawardha. In April 2014, the BJP declared him as their candidate to contest the general election from Rajnandgaon after Madhusudan Yadav, the then member from the constituency, was denied a ticket. 2013 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election
Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election 2013 was held in two phases on 11 and 19 November in Chhattisgarh state of India. The result was announced on 8 December. Incumbent ruling party BJP and Chief Minister Raman Singh retained the majority in assembly and formed government consequently for the third time. Polls Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs was used in 1 assembly seat in Chhattisgarh elections. 2014 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India in nine phases from 7 April to 12 May 2014 to elect the members of the 16th Lok Sabha. With 834 million registered voters, they were the largest-ever elections in the world until being surpassed by the 2019 Indian general election, 2019 elections. Around 23.1 million or 2.7% of the total eligible voters were aged 18–19 years. A total of 8,251 candidates contested the 543 elected Lok Sabha seats. The average election turnout over all nine phases was around 66.40%, the highest ever in the history of Indian general elections.
