2013 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election
Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election 2013 was held in two phases on 11 and 19 November in Chhattisgarh state of India. The result was announced on 8 December. Incumbent ruling party BJP and Chief Minister Raman Singh retained the majority in assembly and formed government consequently for the third time. Polls Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs was used in 1 assembly seat in Chhattisgarh elections. The first phase in the Naxal-affected areas of Bastar, consisting 18 constituencies, voted on 11 November and had a 75.53% voter turnout. The second phase in the other 72 constituencies was held on 19 November and had a 74.7% turnout. Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly
The Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha or the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is the unicameral state legislature of Chhattisgarh state in India. The seat of the Vidhan Sabha is at Raipur, the capital of the state. 2013 Elections In India
Legislative Assembly elections in India were conducted for nine legislative assemblies in 2013. Voting in Chhattisgarh was held in two phases on 11 November and 19 November 2013. The Election Commission of India (ECI) successfully conducted elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland in February and in Karnataka on 5 May. "None of the Above" (or NOTA) has been provided as an option to the voters of India in most elections since 2009. By expressing a preference for none of the above, a citizen can choose not to vote for any candidates who are contesting the elections. The Supreme Court in PUCL vs. Union of India Judgement 2013 directed the use of NOTA in the context of direct elections to the Lok Sabha and the respective state assemblies.
