Aberdeen Football Club Women, formerly known as Aberdeen Football Club Ladies, is a Scottish women's football club affiliated with Aberdeen Football Club that competes in Scottish Women's Premier League 1, the top tier of women's football in Scotland, after winning their second consecutive promotion in 2021. History Aberdeen F.C. Ladies was formed in January 2011, with the merger of Aberdeen City, Aberdeen University, East End Girls F.C. and Aberdeen Ladies & Girls F.C. On 12 November 2017, after a 4–2 defeat to Stirling University, Aberdeen were relegated from the SWPL 1, the first tier of the Scottish Women's Premier League. Balmoral Stadium is a Association football, football ground located in the Cove Bay area of Aberdeen, Scotland. Opened in 2018, it is the home ground of club Cove Rangers F.C., Cove Rangers. From 2021, it is being shared by Scottish Women's Premier League team Aberdeen F.C. Women, Aberdeen. The Scottish Women's Football League Cup, previously known as the Scottish Women's League Cup and Scottish Women's Football League First Division Cup, is a Scottish women's football competition founded in 1972. It is open only to teams in the Scottish Women's Football League (SWFL). It was the top-level league cup until 2002. The SWFL Cup is played at present as the league cup of level 4 clubs in the SWFL, now a standalone amateur league tier. The Scottish Women's Football League First Division (SWFL 1) was a division in the Scottish women's football pyramid between 1999 and 2019. The second league tier from 1999 to 2015, it was later the third tier from 2016 to 2019. For most of its history, the First Division was a national league whose top teams won promotion to the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL), while the lowest were relegated to the Second Division (SWFL 2). Those divisions operated on the traditional autumn–spring football season calendar until 2009, when they switched to a March–November schedule. Nadine Hanssen (born 7 October 1993) is a Dutch professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for SWPL1 club Aberdeen. Hanssen was born in the Netherlands and prior to signing for Aston Villa in 2018, she had played for PSV and Utrecht. Club career PSV Hanssen made her league debut against Utrecht on 12 October 2012. Cove Bay
Cove Bay, known locally as Cove, is a suburb on the south-east edge of Aberdeen, Scotland. Today Cove is home to around 8,000 people. It is a popular residential location owing to its village-like status. It is a quiet suburb at the Southern edge of Aberdeen City and in 2015 won the Silver award for Scotland in bloom.
