Aberdeen (; sco, Aiberdeen ; gd, Obar Dheathain ; la, Aberdonia) is a city in North East Scotland, and is the third most populous city in the country. Aberdeen, Jamaica
Aberdeen is a location in Jamaica getting its name from the Aberdeen Estate. It is in Saint Elizabeth Parish. History The Aberdeen Estate was originally leased by Alexander Forbes from Alexander MacFarlane from 1736-55. Forbes was the white superintendent of the Jamaican Maroons town of Accompong from 1773 until the end of the century. By 1772, Forbes owned the estate outright, and he built a Great house around the 1740s. The enslaved Africans on the estate became Moravians following the missionary work by this Protestant group. Following emancipation these people moved off the estate and established the modern settlement of Aberdeen, retaining their links to the Moravian church. Aberdeen lies on the edge of Cockpit Country. Aberdeen is a neighbourhood in the southern area of Kamloops, British Columbia. It is bordered by Highway 5A (known as the Old Merritt highway) to the east and the Trans Canada Highway to the north. Aberdeen, Grey County, Ontario
Aberdeen is a community in the Municipality of West Grey in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Aberdeen consists of a series of houses in a historical Canadian village site. The village is located north of both the Durham Interforest factory and the stretch of Grey Road 4 between Durham and Hanover. The first settlers came to Aberdeen around 1845. Milton C. Schofield built the first mill there on the Rocky Saugeen River in 1851. For a while, the small emerging village was called Scholfield's Mill. School was first taught in local homes, but a log structure was erected in 1854. S.S. Bentinck 10 was built in 1873. It was a stone building measuring 38 feet by 30 feet and costing $9 to build. Most of the labour and materials were donated. Dr. William J. Dunlop, minister of education in the Leslie Frost cabinet, 1952–60, received his education there. Aberdeen Centre is a shopping mall in Richmond, British Columbia. It is located in the Golden Village district on Hazelbridge Way, bordered by Cambie Road to the north. History The original Aberdeen Centre was built in 1989. It contained about 50 to 75 stores. The original Chinese name was "", which refers to the Chinese name of Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Envisioned as an "Asian mall" in anticipation of the coming wave of migration from Hong Kong due to the impending 1997 Handover of Hong Kong, Aberdeen Centre's developer Thomas Fung had trouble finding tenants initially since there had been no Asian malls in North America in the 1980s.
