Abdullah Bin Ali Al Thani
Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani is a member of the Thani dynasty and son of the former Emir of Qatar Ali bin Abdullah Al Thani who ruled the country between 1949 and 1960. Biography Abdullah bin Ali is the second son of Ali bin Abdullah Al Thani. His grandfather is the former Emir of Qatar, Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. Abdullah's brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, ruled the country from 1960 to 22 February 1972 when he was overthrown by Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. House Of Thani
The House of Thani ( ar, الثاني , translit=Al Thani) is the ruling family of Qatar, with origins tracing back to the Banu Tamim tribal confederation. History and structure The Al Thanis can be traced back to Mudar bin Nizar. The tribe were settled at Gebrin oasis in southern Najd (present-day Saudi Arabia) before they moved to Qatar. Around the 17th century, the tribe lived in Ushayqir, a settlement north-east of Riyadh. They settled in Qatar around the 1720s. Their first settlement in Qatar was in the southern town of Sikak, and from there they moved north-west to Zubarah and Al Ruwais. Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani ( ar, عبد الله بن جاسم بن محمد آل ثاني "Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani"), also known as Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani or Sheikh Abdullah bin Qassim Al Thani, was the Emir of Qatar. Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani ( ar, خليفة بن حمد آل ثاني; 17 September 1932 – 23 October 2016) was the Emir of Qatar from 27 February 1972 until he was deposed by his son Hamad bin Khalifa on 27 June 1995. Camel racing is a popular sport in Western Asia, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Pakistan, Mongolia and Australia. Professional camel racing, like horse racing, is an event for betting and tourist attraction.
