Abdullah Al Hilali
Abdullah Al Hilali (born January 1, 1970) is an Omani association football referee for FIFA, and the Asian Football Confederation. He has performed at many international football competitions since 2002 including the 2008 Summer Olympics, the AFC Champions League 2009 and the World Cup 2010 qualifiers. A former soldier in the Omani army, in 2008 Al Hilali became the first Omani to officiate at the Olympic Games in Beijing. During the Beijing Olympics he officiated the Men's First Round Group A match between Argentina and Serbia during which he sent off Dusko Tosic. In 2006, he was one of the referees for the AFC Youth Championship 2006 held in India. Al Hilali is named as one of 54 candidates to officiate the 2010 World Cup. On January 28, 2009 Al Hilali was the referee for the Yemen-Hong Kong qualifier for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification. World Cup 2010 Qualifiers
Qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup was a series of tournaments organised by the six FIFA confederations. Each confederation — the AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North, Central America and Caribbean), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania), and UEFA (Europe) — was allocated a certain number of the 32 places at the tournament. AFC Youth Championship 2006
The 2006 AFC Youth Championship was the 34th instance of the AFC Youth Championship. It was held from 29 October to 12 November 2006 in India. It was the first time for India to host this tournament. Sixteen teams from the AFC qualified to the finals. The tournament was won by North Korea, their second championship after sharing the trophy with Iran in 1976, defeating Japan 5–3 in a penalty shootout after extra time finished in a 1–1 draw. South Korea defeated Jordan 2–0 to finish third. AFC Champions League 2009
The 2009 AFC Champions League was the 28th edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 7th under the current AFC Champions League title. The final was held at the National Stadium in Tokyo on 7 November 2009. The winners, South Korean club Pohang Steelers, qualified for the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The champions league was expanded to 35 clubs this year, with 5 teams starting from a knockout qualifying stage. An extra stage in the knockout phase was added so that the runners up as well as the winners from the group stage would progress. The previous season winner no longer got a bye through to the knockout round.
