Abdulkadir Ahmed Said
Abdulkadir Ahmed Said ( so, Cabdulkaadir Axmed Saciid, ar, عبد القادر أحمد سعيد) is a prominent Somali film director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer and editor. Biography Said was born in 1953 in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. In 1970, he began working for the Somali Film Agency as a photographer assigned to international relations and as a consultant for productions with other countries. Between 1984 and 1986, he served as Director of Programming on Somali television, and wrote and directed several training programs. Said also worked as assistant director on numerous film productions, including '' The Somali Dervish'' (1983); '' The Parching Winds of Somalia'' (1984); ''Riviera Somalia'' (1984), a program for the Italian public service broadcaster Radio Televisione Italiana (RAI); and ''A Man of Race'' (1987), produced by the LuceSaimon Film Institute. ''The Somali Dervish'' was an epic film directed by Said Salah and Amar Sneh between 1983 and 1985. It is one of the few full-length feature films to have been produced in Somalia. With a budget of $1.8 million, the 4-hour-and-40-minute epic followed the life of Muhammad Abdullah Hassan, emir of Darawiish sultan Diiriye Guure of the revolutionary Darawiish anti-colonialists. Plot A female artist is painting a seascape on a deserted beach when she discovers a beautiful conch. Curious, she puts her ear to it and listens to the echoes and sounds of the ocean waves. However, she also hears the voice of a little girl, Sophie, who recounts her short and troubled life in her small town, which once stood on a lush shore but has since been destroyed by an ecological catastrophe. One night, a boat discharged illegal toxic waste that poisoned the fish and local fisherman, eventually contaminating all the vegetation on the coast and the region's inhabitants.
