Alternative transliterations include ''Abdus Samad'' and others, all subject to variant spacing and hyphenation. It may refer to: People with the name *Abdul-Samad Esfahani (or Abdussamad Esfahani) (died 1299), Sufi saint *Khwaja Abdus Samad/Abd al-Samad etc. (16th century), Persian and the Mughal miniature painter * Abdul Samad of Selangor (1804–1898), Sultan of Selangor *Abdol-samad Mirza Ezz ed-Dowleh Saloor (1843–1929), Persian prince * Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai (1907–1973), Pashtun nationalist leader *Abdus Samad Azad (1922–2005), Bangladeshi politician * Abdul Samad Ismail (1924–2008), aka Pak Samad, Malaysian journalist ...

Sun And Moon Letters
In Arabic and Maltese, the consonants are divided into two groups, called the sun letters or solar letters ( ar, حروف شمسية ', mt, konsonanti xemxin) and moon letters or lunar letters (Arabic: ', mt, konsonanti qamrin), based on whether they assimilate the letter ' ( ') of a preceding Arabic definite article ''al-'' (), which is an important general rule used in Arabic grammar. Phonetically, sun letters are ones pronounced as coronal consonants, and moon letters are ones pronounced as other consonants. These names come from the fact that the word for 'the sun', ', pronounced ''ash-shams'', assimilates the ', while the word for 'the moon', ', doesn't. This also applies to the Maltese language where they are written as ''ix-xemx'' and ''il-qamar''. Rule When followed by a sun letter, the of the Arabic definite article assimilates to the initial consonant of the following noun, resulting in a doubled consonant. For example, "the Nile" is pronounced , not . When ...

Abdul Samad (detainee)
According to the United States Department of Defense, it held more than two hundred Afghan detainees in Guantanamo prior to May 15, 2006. They had been captured and classified as enemy combatants in warfare following the US and allies' invasion of Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban and disrupt terrorist networks. Originally, the US held such prisoners in sites in Afghanistan, but needed a facility to detain them where they could be interrogated. It opened the Guantanamo Bay detention camp on January 11, 2002, and transported the enemy combatants there. The United States Supreme Court's ruled in ''Rasul v.
