Abdolsamad Khorramshahi
Abolsamad Khorramshahi ( fa, عبدالصمد خرمشاهی) is an Iranian lawyer. Khorramshahi was involved in several controversial cases including detained British embassy political analyst Hossein Rassam who was arrested after Iran's disputed presidential election in 2009. He also represented Roxana Saberi, an Iranian-American journalist who was arrested on charges of espionage by the Iranian government, but was later released. Other cases in which Khorramshahi was involved include Delara Darabi and Shahla Jahed. Roxana Saberi
Roxana Saberi (born April 26, 1977) is an American CBS News correspondent and former Miss North Dakota pageant winner. In 2009, she was held prisoner in Iran's Evin Prison for 101 days under accusations of espionage. She subsequently wrote a book about the experience. On April 8, 2009, the Iranian government charged Saberi with espionage, which she denied. She was subsequently convicted and sentenced to an eight-year prison term. Delara Darabi
Delara Darabi ( fa, دلارا دارابى) (29 September 19861 May 2009) was an Iranian Gilaki woman who was sentenced to death after having been convicted of murdering her father's female cousin in 2003. Although Delara initially claimed that she had committed the crime, she subsequently recanted and explained that her older boyfriend, Amir Hossein, had persuaded her to lie about the incident to protect him. According to Delara and other sources familiar with the case, Amir Hossein was the person who had committed the murder in an attempt to steal from a wealthy member of the Darabi family. She was hanged in Rasht Prison on 1 May 2009. Shahla Jahed
Khadijeh Shahla Jahed (10 May 1969 – 1 December 2010) was an Iranian nurse who was sentenced to death for her involvement in the murder of her boyfriend's wife. She was hanged on 1 December 2010, being the 146th person to be executed in Iran in that year. Case and sentencing Jahed had been living with Nasser Mohammadkhani, an Iranian footballer becoming his mistress in a temporary marriage. Jahed was arrested and charged for the 9 October 2002 murder of Laleh Saharkhizan, Mohammadkhani's wife. Mohammadkhani was in Germany when the killing happened, but it emerged later that he was "temporarily married" to Jahed, a practice allowed under Shia Islam. Jahed was tried and sentenced to death in June 2004. The footballer Mohammadkhani first faced charges of adultery. Shirin Ebadi
Shirin Ebadi ( fa, شيرين عبادى, Širin Ebādi; born 21 June 1947) is an Iranian political activist, lawyer, a former judge and human rights activist and founder of Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran. On 10 October 2003, Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her significant and pioneering efforts for democracy and human rights, especially women's, children's, and refugee rights. She has lived in exile in London since 2009. Life and early career as a judge Ebadi was born in Hamadan. Her father, Mohammad Ali Ebadi, was the city's chief notary public and a professor of commercial law. Her family moved to Tehran in 1948.
