Abdul Ghani ( ar, عبد الغني ) or Abdulghani or Abdelghani or similar variants is a male Muslim given name, and in modern usage, surname. It is built from the Arabic words '' Abd'', ''al-'' and ''Ghani''. The name means "servant of the All-sufficient", ''Al-Ghaniyy'' being one of the names of God in the Qur'an, which give rise to the Muslim theophoric names. The letter ''a'' of the ''al-'' is unstressed, and can be transliterated by almost any vowel, often by ''u''. The last element may appear as ''Gani'', ''Ghany'' or in other ways, with the whole name subject to variable spacing and hyphenation. There is also the West African variant Abdul Ganiyu. Mohammed ben Ahmed Abdelghani (18 March 1927 – 22 September 1996) ( ar, محمد بن أحمد عبد الغني) was the prime minister of Algeria under President Chadli Bendjedid from 8 March 1979 until 22 January 1984. Previously the position had been disestablished in 1963. Biography He is an active member of the Algerian People's Party and the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties. Magdi Abdelghani Sayed Ahmed ( ar, مجدي عبد الغني سيد أحمد; born 27 July 1959) is an Egyptian retired professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Playing career Abdelghani won 50 caps for Egypt, and at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy he scored a penalty against Netherlands. Abdelghani Mzoudi (; ar, عبد الغني مزودي; born 6 December 1972, in Marrakech, Morocco), also transliterated as Abdul Ghani Mzoudi, is an alleged member of al-Qaeda and an associate of Mohamed Atta, the ringleader of the September 11 attacks who also served as the hijacker-pilot of American Airlines Flight 11. Life In 1999, Mzoudi lived in the Hamburg cell, an apartment owned by Atta, where many of the organizers of the September 11 attacks met and planned their future. His specific role in the attacks has not been determined, but he does not seem to have attempted to enter the United States at any time. Mzoudi was captured and tried in Germany, along with Mounir el-Motassadeq, on charges relating to the 9/11 attacks. Hussein Omar Abdulghani Sulaimani ( ar, حسين عمر عبد الغني سليماني; born 21 January 1977) is a Saudi Arabian former professional footballer who played as a left-back in the Saudi Professional League. Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani ( ; 4 July 1939 – 22 August 2011) was a Yemeni politician who served as Prime Minister of Yemen from 1994 to 1997, under President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
