Dong Abay
Westdon Martin Abay (born April 5, 1971), popularly known as Dong Abay, is a poet and a Pinoy rock musician. He was the founding member, songwriter and lead vocalist of the bands Yano, Pan (band), Pan, and dongabay, which are now all defunct. In 2005, he pursued a solo career as an independent artist by releasing an album entitled ''Sampol''. In 2017, he formed a rock band named Dong Abay Music Organization or D.A.M.O. while having other endeavors such as a songwriting school. Ibrahim (Abai) Qunanbaiuly ( kk, Абай Құнанбайұлы, ; russian: Абай Кунанбаев; ) was a Kazakh poet, composer and Hanafi Maturidi theologian philosopher. He was also a cultural reformer toward European and Russian cultures on the basis of enlightened Islam. Among Kazakhs he is known simply as Abai. Life Early life and education Abai was born in Karauyl village in Chingiz volost of Semipalatinsk uyezd of the Russian Empire (this is now in Abay District of East Kazakhstan). He was the son of Qunanbai and Uljan, his father's second wife. They named him Ibrahim, as the family was Muslim, and he stuck with the name for the first few years of his life. Abay "Amha" Tsehaye (; 29 April 1953 – 13 January 2021) was an Ethiopian politician and a prominent personality in the Ethiopian political discourse. He was active in the political scene from the early 1960s up to late 2018, initially as one of the founding members of the Tigray People's Liberation Front, TPLF (from inception to 1990), followed by important positions from 1990 to 2018 within the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front, EPRDF, which led the Ethiopian government, after which he retired and moved to live in Axum and Mekelle in Tigray Region, Tigray. Ato Abay Weldu (born 9 May 1965) is an Ethiopian politician who served as president of the Tigray Region from 2010 to 2018. He also served as the chairman of Tigray People's Liberation Front, TPLF (Tigray People Liberation Front) from September 2012 until November 2017. He was succeeded in both positions by Debretsion Gebremichael in January 2018 and November 2017. Abay Weldu joined TPLF in the late 1970s and has served as a member of the executive Committees of TPLF and now defunct Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front, EPRDF since 2000. On January 10, 2021, the Ethiopian National Defense Force said that it has killed 15 members of the TPLF, including the region's former deputy police commissioner, and captured eight others, including the region's former president Abay Weldu.
