Rantau Abang
Rantau Abang is a small village in Dungun District, Terengganu, Malaysia, which used to be known for its leatherback sea turtle nesting. It is located 22 km north of Kuala Dungun and 80 km south of Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. At one time, every year during the months of May to August, the turtles would come ashore and lay their eggs. However, the number of sea turtles that lay their eggs has severely decreased in recent years. It has been estimated that during the 1950s over 10,000 of these turtles called the beaches on Rantau Abang their sanctuary. Recently the local government declared these turtles extinct as no turtle landings have been sighted for quite some time. Abhang
Abhanga () is a form of devotional poetry sung in praise of the Hindu god Vitthal, also known as Vithoba. The word "abhang" comes from ''a'' for "non-" and ''bhang'' for "ending" or "interrupting", in other words, a flawless, continuous process, in this case referring to a poem. By contrast, the devotional songs known as Bhajans focus on the inward journey. Abhangs are more exuberant expressions of the communitarian experience. Abhanga is considered a form of the ovi. Abhangs are sung during pilgrimage to the temples of Pandharpur, by the devotees. Abangan
The ''Abangan'' are Javanese people who are Muslims and practice a much more syncretic version of Islam than the more orthodox santri. The term, apparently derived from the Javanese language word for red, ''abang'', was first developed by Clifford Geertz, but the meaning has since shifted. ''Abangan'' are more inclined to follow a local system of beliefs called adat and Kebatinan than pure Sharia (Islamic law). Their belief system integrates Hinduism, Buddhism and animism. However, some scholars hold that what has classically been viewed as Indonesian variance from Islam is often a part of that faith in other countries. Abang Nor Sillmy bin Abang Haji Taha (born 11 August 1978) is a Bruneian footballer who plays for Ar Rawda FC of the Brunei-Muara District League. Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abang Iskandar bin Abang Hashim ( Jawi: أبانغ إسكندر بن أبانغ هاشم; born 3 July 1959) is a Malaysian lawyer and judge who serves as the sixth Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak (CJSS). Tanah Abang is a district of Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The district hosts the biggest textile market in Southeast Asia, Tanah Abang Market.
