Aalestrup Municipality
Before the ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), Aalestrup municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Viborg County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 176 km2, and had a total population of 7,631 (2005). Its latest mayor was Rigmor Sandborg. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Aalestrup. The municipality was located on the eastern shores of the area known as ''Himmerland'', a part of the Jutland peninsula; the western border of the municipality was partially defined by the waters of Lovn's Broadening (''Lovns Bredning''). On 1 January 2007 Aalestrup municipality ceased and was merged with the former Farsø, Løgstør, and Aars municipalities to form the new Vesthimmerland Municipality. Vesthimmerland Municipality
Vesthimmerland Municipality or Vesthimmerlandøs Municipality is a municipality ( da, kommune) in the North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 768,08 km² (2013) and has a total population of 38,277 inhabitants (2008). The Municipality borders Jammerbugt Municipality to the south and to the east it borders Rebild and Aalborg Municipality and to the south it borders Viborg Municipality and to the south-east it borders Mariagerfjord Municipality. On 1 January 2007 Vesthimmerland municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Aalestrup, Farsø, Løgstør, and Aars. Løgstør
Løgstør is a town in Denmark with a population of 3,967 (1 January 2022) It is located 47 km west of Aalborg and 64 km north of Viborg. Løgstør's city centre consists of old streets with small houses built in the 1800s for fishermen and sailors. One of these houses was donated by Danish housemen to the author and poet Johan Skjoldborg (1861 - 1936) in 1918, who lived in the house until his death. It is located on Johan Skjoldborgs Vej. Farsø
Farsø is a town with a population of 3,349 (1 January 2022) in Region Nordjylland in Denmark in the Vesthimmerland Municipality. Farsø was the birthplace of Johannes Vilhelm Jensen, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. The village of Vognsild is located to the west of Farsø. Farsø is also called one of the head cities of Vesthimmerland Municipality along with Aars, Løgstør and Aalestrup. Himmerland
Himmerland is a peninsula in northeastern Jutland, Denmark. It is delimited to the north and the west by the Limfjord, to the east by the Kattegat, and to the south by the Mariager Fjord. The largest city is Aalborg; smaller towns include Hobro, Aars, Løgstør, Støvring and Nibe. In northeastern Himmerland is the Lille Vildmose, Denmark's largest raised bog, which sustains a rich bird life of international importance.
