A Virgin And A Whore
''A Virgin and a Whore'' is the fourth album by Finnish symphonic death metal band Eternal Tears of Sorrow. It was their last album before the band's hiatus between 2001 and 2004. This is the last EToS album to feature keyboardist Pasi Hiltula (who had been in the band since early 1999) and the only album to feature guitarist Antti Kokko. The seventh song on the album, "Sick, Dirty and Mean" is a cover song, originally written and performed by Accept. The band had rehearsed the song for a two-part tribute album (''Tribute to Accept Vol. 1 & 2'') in 1999 but didn't have any extra time to record it. So, they decided to include the song on ''A Virgin and a Whore''. The album's cover art was made by Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media and guitarist of Dark Tranquillity. Eternal Tears of Sorrow (commonly abbreviated to EToS) is a Finnish symphonic/melodic death metal band formed in Pudasjärvi. Biography The band was formed in 1994 by Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Veteläinen and Olli-Pekka Törrö, after various projects that featured people who became members of Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Andromeda, a first death/doom/thrash metal project, had been put on hold in late 1992 because the rehearsal place had burned down. They could not find a new rehearsal place in their hometown, so the three members started a new side-project (M.D.C.) and recorded a demo tape, ''Beyond The Fantasy'' in autumn 1993. In spring 1994, they recorded a new demo, ''The Seven Goddesses of Frost''. Then the band decided to change their name to something they felt more appropriate opting for Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Niklas Sundin
Niklas Sundin (born 13 August 1974 in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a musician of the band Mitochondrial Sun, but was best known as the founding lead guitarist of band Dark Tranquillity (1989–2020). He was also one of the guitarists in the band Laethora (2005–2010). In Dark Tranquillity, he was one of only two members (the other being drummer Anders Jivarp) to maintain his musical role, unlike the other members who have or had switched. He also wrote some of the lyrics for the first three and recent two Dark Tranquillity albums (Lead singer Mikael Stanne wrote all of Dark Tranquillity's lyrics from ''Projector'' through ''Fiction'') and In Flames' album ''The Jester Race'', and continued to translate In Flames vocalist Anders Fridén's lyrics from Swedish to English for the next few albums while Anders worked to become more proficient in English. Kalmah is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Oulu that formed in 1998. In less than a year after its formation, Kalmah was signed by Spinefarm Records. The word "kalmah" is Karelian and could be translated as "to the grave" or "to the death". History In 1991, Pekka Kokko and Petri Sankala founded the metal band Ancestor. After Ancestor had recorded two demos, Antti Kokko joined the band as lead guitarist. In 1998, after five demos, Ancestor disbanded and Kalmah formed.
