A Santa Compaña
''A Santa Compaña'' is the debut studio album by Galician pop band Golpes Bajos, released on 30 July 1984 by Nuevos Medios. It was written by band frontman Germán Coppini and keyboardist Teo Cardalda. It was produced in Madrid and Barcelona by Luis Fernandez Soria, Cardalda, and guitarist Pablo Novoa. The album artwork depicts all four band members, wearing traditional Galician women's clothing, standing on a field of rocks, except for Coppini, who is sitting at their feet. Its title refers to the ''Santa Compaña'', a Galician folk myth. ''A Santa Compaña'' mainly features a sound that embodies Sophisti-pop, post-punk, new wave, as well as elements of Latin music. It also draws influence from Italian pop and bossa nova. Golpes Bajos
Golpes Bajos was a 1980s pop group in Spain, a part of the so-called ''"Edad de Oro del Pop Español"'', i.e. "The Golden Age of Spanish Pop Music". They were active in 1982–1986, with a final reunion tour in 1997–1998. History ''Golpes Bajos'' was a pop group created in 1982 in Vigo (Pontevedra), Spain. It was initially a duo formed by Germán Coppini (the-then lead singer of Siniestro Total) and Teo Cardalda (composing music and playing various instruments). The group subsequently expanded after spring 1983 with Pablo Novoa and Luis García, who both shared with Teo the work covering multiple keyboards, bass, guitars and drums. Sampler (musical Instrument)
A sampler is an electronic or digital musical instrument which uses sound recordings (or " samples") of real instrument sounds (e.g., a piano, violin, trumpet, or other synthesizer), excerpts from recorded songs (e.g., a five-second bass guitar riff from a funk song) or found sounds (e.g., sirens and ocean waves). The samples are loaded or recorded by the user or by a manufacturer. Mario Panzeri
Mario Panzeri (11 October 1911 – 19 May 1991) was an Italian lyricist and composer. He is well known for his composed songs that include "Maramao perché sei morto?" "Pippo non lo sa", "Lettera a Pinocchio", and "Grazie dei fior", which won the first edition of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1951. Panzeri was the composer of Sanremo Music Festival 1964 winning song "Non ho l'età". Life and career Born in Milan, Panzeri started his career as a revue actor and singer. "Come prima" (English: "As Before") is an Italian song, with lyrics by Mario Panzeri and music by Vincenzo Di Paola and Sandro Taccani. First made popular by Tony Dallara in Italy in 1957, a version by the Marino Marini Quartet was a hit in the United Kingdom in 1958. Bossa Nova
Bossa nova () is a style of samba developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is mainly characterized by a "different beat" that altered the harmonies with the introduction of unconventional chords and an innovative syncopation of traditional samba from a single rhythmic division. The "bossa nova beat" is characteristic of a samba style and not of an autonomous genre. The Santa Compaña ("Holy Company") is a deep-rooted mythical belief in rural northwest of Iberia: Galicia, Asturias (Spain) and Northern Portugal. It is the Iberian version of the pan-European mythical motif known as the Wild Hunt.
