A Regular Woman
''A Regular Woman'' (german: Nur eine Frau) is a 2019 German biographical film directed by Sherry Hormann. It is based on the life of Hatun "Aynur" Sürücü who was killed by her brother in an honor killing. Hormann stated that by 2019 people were "increasingly fencing ourselves in", so she decided to make the film. The film is narrated by an actress playing Sürücü. The characters, in the initial scene, speak Turkish until one breaks the fourth wall and acknowledges that the viewers cannot comprehend their speech, before the characters switch to German, the primary medium of the film. The film includes some video footage of the real Sürücü with her boyfriend. Reception Alissa Simon of ''Variety'' wrote that it "owes much to its fine cast and impeccable technical package." Sherry Hormann
Sherry Hormann (born 20 April 1960) is a German-American film director. Hormann is best known for her movies ''Guys and Balls'' (2004), '' Desert Flower'' (2009) and '' 3096 Days'' (2013). Hormann was born in the United States, but moved to Germany in 1966, when she was six years old. She attended the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) and mainly works in German cinema. She was married to film director Dominik Graf. In October 2011, she married cinematographer Michael Ballhaus; he died in April 2017. Almila Bagriacik
Almila Bagriacik (born 10 July 1990) is a German actress of Turkish descent. She has performed in German film and television. Life and career Bagriacik was born in 1990 in Ankara. Her parents, who were correspondents for the Turkish media, moved to Berlin in 1995, where she grew up speaking both German and Turkish. She was discovered, by chance, by a photographer in 2008, at a club in Kreuzberg in Berlin, who invited her to an audition. The fourth wall is a performance convention in which an invisible, imaginary wall separates actors from the audience. While the audience can see through this ''wall'', the convention assumes the actors act as if they cannot. From the 16th century onward, the rise of illusionism in staging practices, which culminated in the realism and naturalism of the theatre of the 19th century, led to the development of the fourth wall concept.
