A Little Bit Of Heaven (1940 Film)
''A Little Bit of Heaven'' is a 1940 musical film starring teenage soprano singer Gloria Jean. The story casts Gloria as a young member of a large Irish working-class family who becomes a singing sensation on a local radio station. The family's new-found wealth causes some discord until the family realizes that their closeness is what they value the most. The film's title comes from a traditional Irish song that Gloria Jean sings at a family gathering. Her 2005 biography is similarly titled: ''Gloria Jean: A Little Bit of Heaven''. The film is an unofficial sequel to 1939's ''The Under-Pup'', featuring several cast members from that film, but as different characters. The group of girls in ''The Under-Pup'' was called "The Penguins", and Gloria Jean sings the group's song early in this film. Andrew Marton
Andrew Marton (born Endre Marton; 26 January 1904 – 7 January 1992) was a Hungarian-American film director. In his career, he directed 39 films and television programs, and worked on 16 as a second unit director, including the chariot race in '' Ben Hur'' (1959). Life and career Marton was born in Budapest, Hungary. After high-school graduation in 1922 he was taken by Alfréd Deésy to Vienna to work at Sascha-Film, mostly as an assistant editor. After a few months, he rose the attention of director Ernst Lubitsch, who convinced him to try Hollywood. Marton returned to Europe in 1927, and worked as the main editor of the Tobis company in Berlin, and later as an assistant director in Vienna. He directed his ''Two O'Clock in the Morning'', first feature film, in 1929 in Great Britain. He joined a German expedition to Tibet in 1934, where he filmed ''Demon of the Himalayas''. William Gilbert Barron (September 12, 1894 – September 23, 1971), known professionally as Billy Gilbert, was an American actor and comedian. He was known for his comic sneeze routines.
