A Happy Pocket
''A Happy Pocket'' is the third studio album by the Scottish band the Trash Can Sinatras, released by Go! Discs in 1996. Upon its original release, the album reached number 125 in the UK Albums Chart. It fared better in 2023, when a reissue on the Last Night From Glasgow label saw the album reach number 77. Background ''A Happy Pocket'' was recorded at the band's own 24-track studio, Shabby Road Studios in Kilmarnock. The album was originally given a release date of 20 May 1996, but this was later pushed back to 2 September. An EP and four singles were released from the album: "The Genius I Was" (promotional only), "The Main Attraction" EP (UK No. 182), "Twisted and Bent" (UK No. 121), "How Can I Apply...?" (UK No. 172) and "To Sir, With Love" (UK No. 88). After Go! Discs was acquired by Universal in 1996, the Trash Can Sinatras were dropped from the label. To Sir With Love (song)
"To Sir with Love" is the theme from James Clavell's 1967 film ''To Sir, with Love''. The song was performed by British singer and actress Lulu (who also starred in the film), and written by Don Black and Mark London (husband of Lulu's longtime manager Marion Massey). Mickie Most produced the record, with Mike Leander arranging and conducting. The song peaked at the top of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and became the best-selling single of 1967 in the United States. It is the sister paper of ''The Belfast Telegraph'' and is owned by Independent News & Media. Trashcan Sinatras are a Scottish band that were formed in Irvine, Scotland in 1986. The band's music makes frequent use of pop harmonies and wordplay. History Formation The band members met through the club/pub music scene in Irvine. The original band members included Frank Reader (bass), Davy Hughes (guitar and vocals), George McDaid (guitar) and Paul Forde (drums). By late 1986/early 1987, the line-up had changed to include Paul Livingston (guitar), John Douglas (guitar) and Stephen Douglas (drums), along with Frank Reader moving to vocals and Davy Hughes to bass.
