AYA Awards
The AYA (Asian Youth Ambassadors) Awards are awards that give recognition to individuals and institutions for their spirit of perseverance in their efforts to better themselves as well as their community and nation. History The awards started in 2005 by the founder of AYA (A non-profit youth development organization), Kenneth Chin. The awards have since been held consecutively since 2006. The objective of starting the awards was to inspire, incite, and inculcate responsible attitudes and actions in the hearts and minds of the youth of Malaysia as well as to cultivate and build leaders of the nation. Durian Trophies The award trophies are presented as pewter castings of the durian fruit. This representation of the durian connotes a hard, rough and prickly outside; and soft, gentle and pliable on the inside. Flag Of Malaysia
The national flag of Malaysia, also known as the Stripes of Glory ( ms, Jalur Gemilang), is composed of a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes along the fly and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star known as the ''Bintang Persekutuan'' (Federal Star). The 14 stripes, of equal width, represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal territories, while the 14 points of the star represent the unity among these entities. The crescent represents Islam, the country's state religion; the blue canton symbolises the unity of the Malaysian people; the yellow of the star and crescent is the royal colour of the Malay rulers. Pewter
Pewter () is a malleable metal alloy consisting of tin (85–99%), antimony (approximately 5–10%), copper (2%), bismuth, and sometimes silver. Copper and antimony (and in antiquity lead) act as hardeners, but lead may be used in lower grades of pewter, imparting a bluish tint. Durian
The durian (, ) is the edible fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus ''Durio''. There are 30 recognised ''Durio'' species, at least nine of which produce edible fruit. ''Durio zibethinus'', native to Borneo and Sumatra, is the only species available in the international market. It has over 300 named varieties in Thailand and 100 in Malaysia, as of 1987. Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre
The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac; ms, Pentas Seni Kuala Lumpur) in Sentul Park, Kuala Lumpur is one of the established performing art centers in Malaysia. It is a non-profit company, aims to cultivate and sustain the performing arts for the Malaysian. KLPac is the home for KLPac Orchestra, founded in 2006. The orchestra was formerly known as KLPac Sinfonietta. Background In 1995, Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham set up the first privately owned theater, known as "The Actor's Studio," at Plaza Putra (now known as Dataran Underground).
