Arkansas Highway 399 (AR 399, Hwy. 399) is a short north–south highway in southwestern Arkansas. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 70 Business (US 70 Bus.) in DeQueen. Its northern terminus is at US 70 west of DeQueen. History There was once a second roadway with the Highway 399 designation, located west of Foreman in Little River County. It was the old location of Highway 32 through Arkinda to the Oklahoma border. This road is now County Road 63. Arkansas State Highway And Transportation Department
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT), formerly the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, is a government department in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its mission is to provide a safe, efficient, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound intermodal transportation system for the user. The department is responsible for implementing policy made by the Arkansas State Highway Commission, a board of officials appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to direct transportation policy in the state. The department's director is appointed by the commission to hire staff and manage construction and maintenance on Arkansas's highways. The primary duty of ArDOT is the maintenance and management of the over Arkansas Highway System. De Queen ( ) is a city and the county seat of Sevier County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 6,629 at the 2010 census. The placename is the anglicization of the family name of the Dutch merchant and railway financier, Jan de Goeijen (1861–1944). De Goeijen was reportedly rather unhappy with the deformation of his name. Geography De Queen is located at (34.039994, −94.341964). The county seat is Ashdown. Little River County is included in the Texarkana, TX- AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Little River County is Arkansas's 59th county, formed from Sevier County on March 5, 1867, during the Reconstruction era and named for the Little River. The county is separated from all other surrounding counties in the state by water (a characteristic shared only with neighboring Miller County). The Little River, Millwood Lake and the Red River form the boundaries of the county within the state. Around 1895 the Arkansas and Choctaw Railway was built between Arkinda and Ashdown.
