ANZ Victorian Open Championship
The Vic Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1957 and is the Victoria state open championship for men. It is run by Golf Victoria and is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event is held concurrently with the Women's Victorian Open and offers equal prize pool for the two events. The tournament's tag line is: "Men and women. On the same course. At the same time. For equal prize money." The men and women play on the same course at the same time in alternating groups. History The first Victorian Open was played at Riversdale in 1957, replacing the Victorian Close Championship which had been first held in 1948. Barwon Heads
Barwon Heads (previously known as Point Flinders) is a coastal township on the Bellarine Peninsula, near Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is situated on the west bank of the mouth of the Barwon River below Lake Connewarre, while it is bounded to the west by farmland, golf courses and the ephemeral saline wetland Murtnaghurt Lagoon. James Nitties
James Evangelo Nitties (born 23 October 1982) is an Australian professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and now plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Amateur career Nitties was born in Melbourne, Australia. He suffered from juvenile arthritis as a child and young adult, which restricted his flexibility. This caused him to have to take pain killers to restrict the pain from his back. In 2003, he won the New Zealand Amateur and finished second at the Western Amateur to Ryan Moore in 19 holes. He turned professional in 2004. Professional career In 2004, Nitties joined the NGA Hooters Tour where he played for three years, winning once. 2019 European Tour
The 2019 European Tour was the 48th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 11th edition of the Race to Dubai. The Race to Dubai was won by Spain's Jon Rahm, who was also named Golfer of the Year. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre was the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Ryan Fox (golfer)
Ryan Fox (born 22 January 1987) is a New Zealand professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. Professional career Fox turned professional in 2012 and played on the 2012 PGA Tour of Australasia. He had two 4th-place finishes, in the New Zealand PGA Pro-Am Championship and the New South Wales PGA Championship. He was runner-up in the 2014 Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship and later in the year won the Western Australian Open. Min Woo Lee (born 27 July 1998) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He turned professional at the start of 2019 after a successful amateur career. He won the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open and the 2021 Abrdn Scottish Open. Professional career Lee turned professional at the start of 2019. He played a number of events on the European Tour and had early success, finishing 4th in the Saudi International and tied for 5th in the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth, both events played in February. The 2020 European Tour was the 49th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 12th edition of the Race to Dubai. The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the season, with many tournaments being rescheduled or cancelled. All four major championships were affected; The Open Championship was cancelled, and the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open and PGA Championship were moved to dates much later in the year. Ben Campbell (born 20 August 1991) is a professional golfer from New Zealand. Since 2018, he has played primarily on the Asian Tour where he won the 2023 Hong Kong Open (golf), Hong Kong Open.
