AMVJ Basketball, commonly known as AMVJ Amsterdam or AMVJ, is a Dutch basketball club from Amsterdam, part of the major multi-sport club AMVJ (Algemene Maatschappij Voor Jongeren / in English: ''General Society For Youth''). History AMVJ, as an association is called simply stands for General Society For Youth and the Dutch branch of the international Young People's Christian Association, better known as the YMCA. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The Women's Basketball League (WBL) is the highest level of women's basketball in the Netherlands. The first season was played in 1949. Blue Stars is the record titleholder of the league with 20 championships. As of 2021, the league consists of nine teams. History From its establishment, the league was known as "Eredivisie".
