Automotoklub Zlatá Přilba Pardubice is a Czech motorcycle speedway team based in Pardubice, Czech Republic. The club take its name Zlatá Přilba after the prestigious competition known as the Golden Helmet of Pardubice. History The team race at the Svítkov Stadium and were four-times champions of the former Czechoslovakia. The team started life known as KAMK Pardubice before taking the Golden Helmet name. However, in 1983 the stadium became a centre for the Svazarm and the site was known as a centre of professional sports. The team raced as SVS (Středisko vrcholového sportu) Pardubice from 1983 to 1990 before reverting to their chosen name. Svítkov Stadium
The Svítkov Stadium () is a 10,000-capacity speedway stadium in the Svítkov area of Pardubice, Czech Republic. The stadium is located in the west of Svítkov, which itself is located on the western outskirts of the city. The speedway track has a circumference of 400 metres and is home to the speedway team AMK Zlatá Přilba Pardubice. History The stadium was built in 1953 and 1954. Since 1964, the stadium has hosted the prestigious Golden Helmet of Pardubice. It moved to Svítkov after previously being held at the Velká pardubická from 1929 to 1963. The wide bends of the track allow six riders to compete in the competition. The Czech Republic Speedway Team Championships is an annual motorcycle speedway event held each year and organised by the Autoklub České republiky to determine the champions of the Czech Republic. From 1956 until 1991 the competition was for teams in Czechoslovakia, although due to the lack of clubs in Slovakia, it was dominated by Czech teams. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). The Golden Helmet of Pardubice (Czech: Zlatá přilba) is a motorcycle speedway competition hosted annually in Pardubice, the Czech Republic. It is the oldest motorcycle speedway race in Europe and is considered prestigious. History The race was established by three motorsport enthusiasts František Hladěna, Adolf Trnka and Ladislav Polák in 1929. The first 15 events of the Golden Helmet race were held on the long turf racetrack of Velká pardubická Steeplechase in Pardubice, from 1929 to 1963. On several occasions the event attracted more than 100,000 fans, but also five riders suffered mortal injuries competing on this dangerous grass track. Svazarm or Union for Cooperation with the Army (Czech: Svaz pro spolupráci s armádou / Svazarm, Slovak: Zväz pre spoluprácu s armádou / Zväzarm) was, in Communist Czechoslovakia, the largest "paramilitary" organisation, although many of the activities that Svazarm provided for its members were more reminiscent of a Boy Scout movement than of a regimented paramilitary group. Established in 1951, the Svazarm was an almost exact copy of the Soviet Union's DOSAAF, however, with massively scaled down maritime activities as Czechoslovakia was landlocked.
