Aichi Atsuta
The Aichi AE1A Atsuta (Japanese: or ) was a Japanese licensed version of the German Daimler-Benz DB 601A 12-cylinder liquid-cooled inverted-vee aircraft engine. The Atsuta powered only two models of Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service (IJNAS) aircraft in World War II. The Imperial Japanese Army Air Service (IJAAS) used the same engine (manufactured by Kawasaki as the Kawasaki Ha40) to power its Kawasaki Ki-61 ''Hien'' (Allied reporting name "Tony") fighter. The IJNAS's Atsuta and its IJAAS cousin, the Ha-40 were based on the engine that powered Germany's Messerschmitt Bf 109E fighter.Monogram Close-Up 13 Design and development Aichi receives Daimler-Benz DB 600 license Daimler-Benz granted Aichi Kokuki KK, a part of the Aichi Clock and Electric Co. HMAS AE1
HMAS ''AE1'' (originally known as just ''AE1'') was an E-class submarine of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). She was the first submarine to serve in the RAN, and was lost at sea with all hands near what is now East New Britain, Papua New Guinea, on 14 September 1914, after less than seven months in service. Search missions attempting to locate the wreck began in 1976. The submarine was found during the 13th search mission near the Duke of York Islands in December 2017. Design and construction The E class was a version of the preceding D-class submarine enlarged to accommodate an additional pair of broadside torpedo tubes.Harrison, Chapter 4: ''Pre-1914 Saddle Tank Types D & E Classes''. ''AE1'' was long overall, with a beam of and a draught of . She displaced on the surfaceFrame, ''No Pleasure Cruise'', p. 97. and submerged. The E-class boats had a designed diving depth of , but the addition of watertight bulkheads strengthened the hull and increased the actual diving d ...

Constantinian Bronzes
In numismatics, the term Constantinian bronzes denotes the series of bronze coins issued in the Roman Empire in the middle of the 4th century. The specific denominations are unclear and debated by historians and numismatists. They are referred to as AE1, AE2, AE3, and AE4, with the former being the largest (near 27 mm) and the latter the smallest (averaging 15 mm) in diameter: In November 2013, the largest hoard of Constantinian bronze coins was discovered in Devon, England. Called the Seaton Down Hoard, it consists of 22,000 coins, mostly Constantinian bronzes. Anion Exchanger 1
Band 3 anion transport protein, also known as anion exchanger 1 (AE1) or band 3 or solute carrier family 4 member 1 (SLC4A1), is a protein that is encoded by the gene in humans. Band 3 anion transport protein is a phylogenetically-preserved transport protein responsible for mediating the exchange of chloride (Cl−) with bicarbonate (HCO3−) across plasma membranes. Functionally similar members of the AE clade are AE2 and AE3. Function Band 3 is present in the basolateral face of the α-intercalated cells of the collecting ducts of the nephron, which are the main acid-secreting cells of the kidney. They generate hydrogen ions and bicarbonate ions from carbon dioxide and water – a reaction catalysed by carbonic anhydrase. The hydrogen ions are pumped into the collecting duct tubule by vacuolar H+ ATPase, the apical proton pump, which thus excretes acid into the urine. kAE1 exchanges bicarbonate for chloride on the basolateral surface, essentially returning bicarbonate ...

AE1/AE3
AE1/AE3 is an antibody cocktail that is used in immunohistochemistry, being generally positive in the cytoplasm of carcinomas (cancers of epithelial origin). Revised: 26 November 2019Cytoplasmic stain: Targets The antibody cocktail binds to cytokeratin 1 - 8, 10, 14 - 16 and 19 (but not CK17 or CK18). It is therefore used as a marker of carcinomas, such as depth of invasion and metastases. For example, it is both relatively sensitive and specific for detection of breast cancer metastasis to sentinel lymph nodes. It may cross-react with GFAP, leading to aberrant staining of glial tumors such as ependymoma, glioblastoma and schwannoma. It may also stain myofibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, it may stain nodal epithelial cells that has contaminated a tumor from recent biopsy.
