The ADAC Schauinsland Race was a motor sport event that took place mainly in the borough of Freiburg im Breisgau in south Germany Germany,, officially the Federal Republic of Germany, is a country in Central Europe. The route climbed through 780 metres of height over a course of twelve kilometres. Even today it is the longest and most winding mountain racecourse in Germany and the venue for several European Hill Climb Championships. Horben is a village in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Geography Horben is located to the south of the city of Freiburg and east of the Hexental valley on the western slope of the Schauinsland mountain range. It lies between the mountains of "Illenberg" () and "Eduardshöhe" (). The area is the source of the Bohrer and Selzenbach creeks. Horben lies at an altitude above and is within the Southern Black Forest Nature park. Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald (french: Arrondissement de Brisgau-Haute-Forêt-Noire) is a (district) in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fifty towns and municipalities with 133 settlements lie within the district. The district itself belongs to the region of Freiburg with the region of Southern Upper Rhine. Schauinsland
The Schauinsland (literally "look-into-the-country"; near Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany) is a mountain in the Black Forest with an elevation of 1,284 m (4,213 ft) above sea level. It is a popular destination for day trips. Due to the high amount of silver mining, it was previously known as "Erzkasten" (literally "ore box"); the name "Schouwesland" first appeared in 1347. The mountain is located roughly ten kilometres (6 miles) south-east of Freiburg’s city centre. Geography The summit of the Schauinsland is located in the district of Freiburg. Hillclimbing, also known as hill climbing, speed hillclimbing, or speed hill climbing, is a branch of motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock to complete an uphill course. The European Championships is a multi-sport tournament which brings together the existing European Championships of some of the continent's leading sports every four years. The inaugural edition in 2018 was staged by the host cities of Berlin, Germany and Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom between 2 and 12 August. The second edition in 2022 took place in Munich, Germany.
