Half Man Half Biscuit are an English rock band, formed in 1984 in Birkenhead, Merseyside. Known for their satirical, sardonic, and sometimes surreal songs, the band comprises lead singer and guitarist Nigel Blackwell, bassist and singer Neil Crossley, drummer Carl Henry, and guitarist Karl Benson. History Half Man Half Biscuit were formed by two friends from Birkenhead, Neil Crossley and singer, guitarist and songwriter Nigel Blackwell who was (in his own words) at the time "still robbing cars and playing football like normal people do". Dickie Davies
Richard John Davies (born 30 April 1933) is a retired British television sports presenter, who anchored '' World of Sport'' from 1968 until 1985. Early life Davies attended Oldershaw Grammar School after passing his eleven-plus; he then did National Service in the Royal Air Force, and worked as a purser on the and ocean liners. Career His first job in broadcasting was as an announcer for Southern Television. In the early stages of his career, Davies was known by his full name, Richard Davies, but changed to Dickie Davies at the suggestion of his ITV Sport colleague Jimmy Hill. Davies began work on ''World of Sport'' (initially called ''Wide World of Sports'') in 1965 as an understudy to Eamonn Andrews, who was paid £40,000 by ITV to present it (about £825,250 at 2022 prices)—taking over the role of presenter in 1968 when Andrews left the show. ''Trumpton'' is a British stop-motion children's television series from the producers of ''Camberwick Green''. First shown on the BBC from January to March 1967, it was the second series in the Trumptonshire, ''Trumptonshire'' trilogy, which comprised ''Camberwick Green'', ''Trumpton'' and ''Chigley''. As with the other two series, ''Trumpton'' continued to be repeated well in to the 1980s as a part of the BBC's children's schedules. Dukla Prague
Dukla Prague ( cz, Dukla Praha) was a Czech football club from the city of Prague. Established in 1948 as ATK Praha, the club won a total of 11 Czechoslovak league titles and eight Czechoslovak Cups, and in the 1966–67 season, reached the semi-finals of the European Cup. As late as 1985–86 they reached the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-final and they also made a great impact in the American Challenge Cup competition in New York City with four wins between 1961 and 1964. The club sent seven players to the silver medal-winning Czechoslovakia national team in the 1962 World Cup, in a year which saw them win the fifth of their domestic league titles as well as their player Josef Masopust be named European Footballer of the Year. "Fuckin' 'Ell It's Fred Titmus" is a song by UK indie band Half Man Half Biscuit. It was on the 1985 album ''Back in the DHSS'', and the 1988 CD '' ACD''. The subject of the song was cricketer Fred Titmus. The band line-up for both the album track and the live recording was Paul Wright on drums, Neil Crossley on bass guitar and vocals, Nigel Blackwell on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Simon Blackwell on lead guitar and David Lloyd on keyboards. The ''Carry On'' series of 31 British comedy films were released between 1958 and 1978, produced by Peter Rogers with director Gerald Thomas. The humour of ''Carry On'' was in the British comic tradition of music hall and bawdy seaside postcards. In between the films, Rogers and Thomas produced four Christmas television specials (1969–1973), a 1975 television series of thirteen episodes, and three West End stage shows that later toured the regions. Budapest Honvéd Football Club (), commonly known as Budapest Honvéd or simply Honvéd, is a Hungarian sports club based in Kispest, Budapest, with the colours of red and black. Dean Friedman (born May 23, 1955) is an American singer-songwriter who plays piano, keyboard, guitar and other instruments, including the harmonica. Although considered a one-hit wonder in the US, he has had multiple singles chart in other territories and continues to write, record and tour. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Ted Moult
Edward Walker Moult (11 February 1926 – 3 September 1986) was a British farmer at Scaddows Farm near Ticknall, Derbyshire, who became a radio and television personality. Early life Moult was born in Derby. He left Derby School at 17 in 1944 but, by 22, had his first dairy farm in Sinfin, on the outskirts of the city. He has been credited with the concept of "pick-your-own" strawberries at his farm; he began in 1961, and always made a point of greeting his customers. Showbiz career Moult first came to public attention in the 1950s on BBC Radio's general knowledge quiz ''Brain of Britain'', although he was knocked out in the first round.
