Masterpoints or master points are points awarded by bridge organizations to individuals for success in competitive bridge tournaments run under their auspices. Generally, recipients must be members in good standing of the issuing organization. At the international level, competitions and point awards are administered by the World Bridge Federation (WBF); its affiliates at the multi-national level, such as the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), also issue points as do more local organizations such as the English Bridge Union (EBU), and the Deutsche Bridge Verband (DBV) and independent ones such as the American Bridge Association (ABA). Richard A. Freeman (July 21, 1933 – June 29, 2009) was a world champion American bridge player holding the title of World Grand Master, the highest title of the World Bridge Federation. He won the Bermuda Bowl world team championship and won many national championships. Freeman was inducted into the ACBL Hall of Fame in 2001. At the time of his death he held 17,880 masterpoints. Early life He was born in 1933, and was from Atlanta, Georgia. He was a radio Quiz Kid in 1942. In 1952, Freeman became the youngest Life Master in the ACBL ever at that time. In January 1964, he became editor of newly published ''Modern Bridge'' magazine. In 1993 he was a founding member of the Nick Nickell team where he played until his death as Nickell's professional partner. He died in Atlanta. __NOTOC__ Kyle Alan Larsen (January 2, 1950 – August 21, 2012) was a professional American bridge player. He won two world titles: the 2001 Bermuda Bowl in Paris and 2006 Rosenblum Cup in Verona, as well as 12 national titles and 9 runners-up. He was born in San Francisco, California – the son of two tournament bridge players – and lived in the Bay Area until his death. At the age of 15 he became the youngest ACBL Life Master at that time; when he won Reisinger Board-a-Match Teams in 1968, aged 18, he was the youngest player ever to win a major North American title. His bridge partner for many years was Rose Meltzer; together they won both world championships and five North American Bridge Championships titles. Robert J. (Bobby) Levin (born November 19, 1957) is an American professional bridge player, from Aventura, Florida. He was the youngest winner of the Bermuda Bowl world championship for national teams from 1981 until 2015, when 19-year old Michal Klukowski of Poland succeeded him. Levin is also a five-time winner of the Cavendish Invitational Pairs, the world's leading contest for cash prizes, with his regular partner Steve Weinstein. Joel Powhatan Wooldridge (born July 19, 1979) is an American multi national champion and world junior champion in contract bridge as well as an expert foosball player. In 1990, Wooldridge broke Sam Hirschman's previous record for the youngest to achieve Life Master status with the American Contract Bridge League surpassing the mark of 11 years, 9 months and 5 days with a new record of 11 years, 4 months and 13 days.
