Medininkai
Medininkai (; be, Меднікі) is a village in Lithuania, located east of Vilnius city municipality and from the Lithuanian–Belarusian border. The village is situated on the Medininkai Highland, near the highest points of Lithuania – the Juozapinė Hill and Aukštojas Hill. The village is famous for the ruins of the Medininkai Castle. On 31 July 1991 the Lithuanian border post was attacked by Soviet OMON forces. Seven Lithuanian volunteer officers were shot, while Tomas Šernas barely survived. European route E28 is a west-east intermediate road in the international E-road network. Beginning at the Bundesautobahn 10 (''Berliner Ring'') in Germany, it runs west-east for a length of to Minsk, Belarus. The section between Kaliningrad and Minsk is part of the Pan-European Corridor IX. The international E-road network is a numbering system for roads in Europe developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
