Adam "A. J." Johnson (born September 3, 1992) is an American professional bowler from Oswego, Illinois. He has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2015. He won his first PBA Tour title in 2023. He has also been a multi-year member of Team USA, and is on the 2024 team. Johnson is a member of the MOTIV Bowling pro staff. He is also sponsored by Turbo grips. Amateur career Johnson bowled collegiately for McKendree University, where he earned first-team All-American and MVP honors in the 2013–14 season. In 2013, he was a member of Junior Team USA. He won the 2013 Junior Gold Championships as a youth bowler for the United States. He has been a five-time member of Team USA. At the 2019 PABCON Championships in Lima, Peru, he won gold in team and all events, and silver in singles. PBA Tour
The PBA Tour is the major professional tour for ten-pin bowling, operated by the Professional Bowlers Association. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, over 3,000 members worldwide make up the PBA. While most of the PBA members are Regional professionals, a small percentage of the bowling membership competes at the national and international level, forming the PBA Tour. (PBA.com lists 75 bowlers that have national touring pro status as of the start of the 2023 season.) Founded in 1958, the PBA Tour has been in continuous operation since the inaugural 1959 season. Jakob Butturff
Jakob Butturff (born April 28, 1994) is a left-handed American ten-pin bowler from Chandler, Arizona and a member of the Professional Bowlers Association. He competes in events on the PBA Tour and in global events as a member of Team USA. He has won seven national PBA Tour titles (including one major) and 27 PBA Regional Tour titles. Jakob also rolled the 28th of the PBA Tour's 34 televised 300 games. Butturff is a member of the Columbia 300 and Vise Grips pro staffs. Amateur career Butturff finished first at the 2017 Team USA Trials, and has been a Team USA member from 2017 through 2019. He won a team gold medal at the 2017 World Bowling Championships. Tommy Jones (born November 2, 1978) is an American professional bowler currently competing on the PBA Tour (Professional Bowlers Association), and is a member of the PBA Hall of Fame. He is also an 11-time member of Team USA. Jones, who is right-handed, has been one of the most competitive pros on the PBA Tour since 2004. Shawn Maldonado (born 1986) is an American right-handed professional ten-pin bowler from Houston, Texas, who joined the Professional Bowlers Association in 2013. He owns two national PBA Tour titles, and has also won 15 PBA Regional Tour titles. Maldonado uses a two-handed shovel-style delivery. Unusual for this style, he originally put his thumb in the ball. The PBA Tour Playoffs is an annual invitational event on the PBA Tour in North America that debuted in the 2019 season. After two years as a 24-player tournament, the event has been set up in a 16-player bracket-style format since 2021. Tournament Structure PBA Tour Playoffs participants are chosen and seeded based on points earned in qualifying to-date tournaments of the current season.
