A. G. Krishnamurthy
Atchyutani Gopala Krishnamurthy (28 April 1942 – 5 February 2016) was an Indian advertising professional. He was chairman and managing director of Mudra Communications Limited, which he founded, from 1980 to 2003. Early life and career A. G. Krishnamurthy born in Telugu Bhramin Community, graduated from Andhra University with a B.A. in history. He began his career at Calico Mills in 1968, moving to Shilpi Advertising, Calico's ad agency, as an account executive in 1972. He joined Reliance Industries as Advertising Manager in 1976 and left there to set up Mudra Communications on 25 March 1980. He retired from Mudra in March 2003, handing it over to Madhukar Kamath. In the same year, he set up a consultancy named AGK Brand Consulting. Legacy Krishnamurthy established Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad in March 1991 to provide workers for the expanding advertising industry in India, which until then was lacking in manpower to match its needs. The DDB Mudra Group, a part of the DDB Worldwide Communications Group, is an advertising holding company. It was earlier known as Mudra Communications Limited and Mudra India. It also started Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad which is considered India's first academic institution dedicated to communications and advertising studies. In 2011, Mudra group was acquired by Omnicom Group, subsequently rebranded as DDB Mudra group and merged with DDB Worldwide. As an advertising agency it is credited with handling successful campaigns of brands and products such as Castrol, Dabur, Future Group, Gulf Oil, and Volkswagen. MICA, formerly Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, is a business school and an autonomous, non-profit institute of higher education, located on the outskirts of the western Indian city of Ahmedabad. Andhra University (IAST: ''Āndhra Vișvakalāpariṣhat'') is a public university located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 1926. Calico Mills
The Calico Mills, officially Ahmedabad Manufacturing and Calico Printing Mills Ltd and M/S ILAC Ltd, was one of the earliest textile mills established in Ahmedabad, India by Sarabhai family. Established in 1888, it closed in 1998. The land, plant and machinery were sold in a public auction in 2010s. History The Calico Mills was one of earliest textile mills in Ahmedabad established in 1888 by Sheth Karamchand Premchand, the ancestor of Sarabhai family. The mills were spread over an area of on the bank of Sabarmati river. The mills flourished under Ambalal Sarabhai. It was later managed by Ambalal's brothers and his nephews.
