A.C. Jose
Ambat Chacko Jose ( ml, അമ്പാട്ട് ചാക്കോ ജോസ്; 5 February 1937 – 23 January 2016) was an Indian politician. He was Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly and a Member of Parliament from Thrissur and Idukki constituencies in Kerala. The Times of India calls him ''The Always Casting Jose of Kerala'' as he saved the K. Karunakaran government by exercising his casting vote a record seven times in around 80 days as the ruling United Democratic Front and the opposition Left Democratic Front faced a 70–70 tie in the Kerala assembly. Biography A. C. Jose was born on 5 February 1937 in Edapally, Ernakulam. He belonged to the well known Ambat family. He studied at St. Alberts College, and Government Law College and took his BSc and LLM degrees. He played a dominant role in the formation of Kerala Students Union. Edapally
Edappally or Idappalli is a region in the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. It is a major commercial centre as well as a prominent residential region. Kerala Students Union
The Kerala Students Union (abbreviated KSU) is a students organization in Kerala, India. It functions as the student wing of the Indian National Congress in the state. KSU was founded in 1957 at Alappuzha, with M. A. John as its main organiser and Vayalar Ravi founding general secretary. The original group consisted of M. A. John, Vayalar Ravi, George Tharakan and A.A. Samad. It functioned as the student wing of the Pradesh Congress Committee. While Ravi was the President, KSU took a leading role in the opposition campaign against the communist state government. KSU sought to challenge the near-monopoly of the communist-led All India Students Federation over campus politics at the time.
