F.C. Carpenedolo S.S.D., commonly known as Carpenedolo, is an Italian association football club, based in Carpenedolo, Lombardy. History In the Serie C2 2007-08 regular season, Carpenedolo finished second in Girone A, and qualified for the promotion playoffs. The team was defeated by fifth-placed Mezzocorona in the semi-finals, 2–1 on aggregate, thus remaining in the 4th level of Italian Football, now called Lega Pro Seconda Divisione for the 2008–09 season. At the end of the 2009-10 Lega Pro Seconda Divisione season the club was relegated to Serie D. It in the season 2010–11, from Serie D group D relegated, in the play-out, to Eccellenza Lombardy, but August 5, 2011, it was later readmitted to Serie D to fill vacancies. The Eccellenza (, "excellence") is the fifth level (since 2014–15) of Italian football. It is a regional league, composed of 28 divisions divided geographically. All 20 regions are represented by at least one division except for Piedmont and Aosta Valley which share 2 divisions. Veneto, Tuscany, Sicily, Emilia-Romagna and Campania also have 2 divisions each, while the regions of Lombardy and Lazio have 3 divisions. Lega Pro Seconda Divisione was the fourth highest football league in Italy, the lowest with a professional status. Usually it consisted of 36 teams, but in the 2011–12 season, there were 41 teams divided geographically into two divisions of 20 and 21. Group A covered northern and north-central Italy, Group B south-central and southern Italy. Until the 2007–08 season, the league was known as Serie C2. Before the 1978–79 season, there were only three professional football leagues in Italy, the third being Serie C. The Serie D () is the top level of semi-professional football in the country. The fourth tier of the Italian league system, the competition sits beneath the third professional league, Serie C. Eccellenza Lombardy ( it, Eccellenza Lombardia) is the regional Eccellenza football division for clubs in Lombardy, Italy. It is competed amongst 48 teams, in three groups (A, B and C). Terza Categoria
The Terza Categoria is the lowest level of amateur football in Italy. It is the ninth level in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Terza Categoria level progresses to their closest regional league in the Seconda Categoria level. Unlike all the levels above the Terza Categoria, there is no relegation. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a provincial level from the Local and Provincial Committees.
