A-Sun Baseball Pitcher Of The Year
At the end of each regular season, the Atlantic Sun Conference, branded since the 2016–17 school year as the ASUN Conference, names major award winners in baseball. Currently, it names a Coach, Pitcher, Player, Freshman, and Defensive Player of the Year. The Coach of the Year award, which dates to 1979, is the oldest. The others—Player (1982), Freshman (2001), Pitcher (2004), and Defensive Player (2014)—were added later. Through the 2001 season, the then-existing awards were known as the major awards of the Trans America Athletic Conference, the ASUN's former name. Through the end of the 2019 season, Stetson has won 29 major awards, the most of any school in the conference. Dave Tollett
David Tollett (born March 30, 1966) is an American college baseball coach who has been the head coach of Florida Gulf Coast since 2002, the program's first season. Under Tollett, the Eagles have appeared in two NCAA Division I Tournaments and won Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) regular season championships in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2019, and 2021.Tollett's 2017 season was the most successful in program history as the Green and Blue won a program record 43 games, claimed the program's first ASUN Tournament Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. The Belmont Bruins baseball team (formerly the Belmont Rebels) is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The team is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at E. S. Rose Park in Nashville. Dave Jarvis
David Lance Jarvis is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Belmont Bruins baseball team. He was named to that position prior to the 1998 season. Playing career Jarvis played collegiately at Three Rivers Community College for two years before completing his eligibility at Arkansas State. He was primarily a catcher, and also played a short semi-pro career before turning to coaching. In 1985, he earned a master's degree at Arkansas State. Coaching career Three Rivers made Jarvis their head coach in 1985. He remained with the Raiders for nine seasons, amassing a record of 324–152 at the junior college. The program was consistently ranked under Jarvis, and he was named a three time Midwest Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Jay Bergman (baseball)
Jay Bergman (born February 6, 1939) is a former American college baseball coach. During his coaching career he served as the head coach of Seminole Community College, University of Florida and the University of Central Florida. Jay Bergman Field on the campus of the University of Central Florida was named for him. Bergman was forced out at UCF with 10 games left in the 2008 season after being accused of harassing an equipment manager. He was originally fired, but reached a settlement that allowed him to retire. Terry Rooney, the pitching coach at LSU, was hired to replace him. Bergman finished his thirty-six season career as a head coach with an overall record of 1,183 wins, 688 losses, and 3 ties, and a winning percentage of .632. Campbell Fighting Camels Baseball
The Campbell Fighting Camels baseball team is Campbell University's NCAA Division I baseball team. The team plays its home games on campus at Jim Perry Stadium, named for former Campbell Baseball and Basketball player Jim Perry (baseball), Jim Perry. Kevin Cooney (baseball)
Kevin Cooney (born August 12, 1950) is an American former college baseball coach who was the head coach at Montclair State from 1984–1987 and Florida Atlantic from 1988–2008. Under Cooney, the teams combined to appear in 11 NCAA tournaments, including six in Division I. Montclair State won the Division III National Championship in 1987. Individually, Cooney was named the TAAC Coach of the Year in 1999. Playing career A New Jersey native, Cooney attended Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. He played baseball for the Red Hawks from 1970–1972. A pitcher, Cooney had a career 18-3 record, 2.35 ERA, and 164 strikeouts. Rudy Abbott
Rudy Vallee Abbott (December 29, 1940 – February 9, 2022) was an American college baseball coach who served as head coach of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks baseball team from 1970 to 2001. His all-time record is 1003–467 (.682). Coaching career Abbott coached the Jacksonville State baseball teams to NCAA Division II national champions in 1990 and 1991. Seven of his Jacksonville State baseball teams advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series. In 1979, his team started the season with a 29–0 record, an NCAA record for the best start in history. He was named Division II Coach of the Year in 1990. In Division I, he was named the TAAC Coach of the Year in 1997. Danny Price (baseball Coach)
Danny Price is a former college baseball coach and former player. He was the head coach of the Florida International University (FIU) baseball team, a position that he held from 1980 until May 2007. During that span, he recorded a thousand coaching victories, reaching that milestone on March 10, 2005. He was then head coach at Miami Dade College from 2011 until his retirement in 2019, after which he planned to engage in charitable work. Price, the son of a sharecropper born in North Carolina, attended FIU and played on its baseball team as a student in 1973–74. He made the first hit for FIU, which had opened its doors a year before. He graduated in 1974, and returned as a hitting instructor in 1976.
