Jay Bergman (baseball)
Jay Bergman (born February 6, 1939) is a former American college baseball coach. During his coaching career he served as the head coach of Seminole Community College, University of Florida and the University of Central Florida. Jay Bergman Field on the campus of the University of Central Florida was named for him. Bergman was forced out at UCF with 10 games left in the 2008 season after being accused of harassing an equipment manager. He was originally fired, but reached a settlement that allowed him to retire. Terry Rooney, the pitching coach at LSU, was hired to replace him. Bergman finished his thirty-six season career as a head coach with an overall record of 1,183 wins, 688 losses, and 3 ties, and a winning percentage of .632. In the early 2000s, he won three A-Sun Coach of the Year awards. Seminole Community College
Seminole State College of Florida is a public college with four campuses in Central Florida. It is part of the Florida College System. Founded in 1965, the Florida Legislature, Florida State Legislature signed a charter creating "Seminole Junior College." The college opened in August 1966 with 700 students at a former citrus grove in Seminole County, near U.S. Route 17/92 and County Road 427 (Ronald Reagan Blvd.) now in the city of Sanford, Florida, Sanford. By October 1971, Seminole Junior College's enrollment had exceeded 7,000, and by 1975, Seminole Junior College became "Seminole Community College", with enrollment reaching 14,161. Terry Rooney (baseball Coach)
Terry Rooney is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current recruiting coordinator for the LSU Tigers baseball, LSU Tigers. He played college baseball at Davis & Elkins College in 1993, transferring to Radford Highlanders baseball, Radford where he played from 1994 to 1996. Rooney then served as the head coach of the UCF Knights baseball, UCF Knights (2009–2016) and the interim head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball, Alabama Crimson Tide (2017). Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Coach Of The Year
At the end of each regular season, the Atlantic Sun Conference, branded since the 2016–17 school year as the ASUN Conference, names major award winners in baseball. Currently, it names a Coach, Pitcher, Player, Freshman, and Defensive Player of the Year. The Coach of the Year award, which dates to 1979, is the oldest. The LSU Tigers baseball team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference. John Euliano Park, formerly Jay Bergman Field, is a baseball stadium located on the main campus of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, USA. The stadium serves as the home of the UCF Knights baseball team. History John Euliano Park was originally built in 2001 as a state-of-the-art facility, featuring an indoor training facility with three batting cages and two pitching mounds. The facility was originally named after the longtime head coach of the team, Jay Bergman.
