Gordon Edward Pinsent (born July 12, 1930) is a Canadian actor, writer, director, and singer. He is known for his roles in numerous productions, including ''Away from Her'', '' The Rowdyman'', '' John and the Missus'', ''A Gift to Last'', ''Due South'', '' The Red Green Show'' and '' Quentin Durgens, M.P.'' He was the voice of Babar the Elephant in television and film from 1989 to 2015. Early life Pinsent, the youngest of six children, was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland (present-day Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada). His mother, Florence "Flossie" (née Cooper), was originally from Clifton, Newfoundland and his father, Stephen Arthur Pinsent, was a paper mill worker and cobbler originally from Dildo, Newfoundland. Albert Samuel Waxman, (March 2, 1935 – January 18, 2001) was a Canadian actor and director of over 1,000 productions on radio, television, film, and stage. He is best known for his starring roles in the television series '' King of Kensington'' ( CBC) and '' Cagney & Lacey'' ( CBS) and '' Twice in a Lifetime'' (CTV). Early life Waxman was born in Toronto, Ontario to Jewish immigrants from Poland. His parents operated and owned Melinda Lunch, a small restaurant. His father, Aaron Waxman, died when Al was nine. ''Take 30'' (also expressed as ''Take Thirty'') was a Canadian television newsmagazine series, which aired on CBC Television from 1962 to 1984 for 2,500 episodes. An afternoon series originally designed as a "women's show", the series gradually evolved into a showcase for serious journalism, airing documentary reports and interviews on social and cultural topics. Despite the title, the series at times aired in a 35-minute timeslot, as was the case in late 1965. The program's original hosts were Anna Cameron and Paul Soles. In 1965, Cameron left and was replaced by Adrienne Clarkson. Hana Gartner CM is a retired Canadian investigative journalist who is best known as the host and interviewer of several programs for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Early life and education Gartner was born in 1948 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, but grew up in Chomedey, Laval, Quebec. Man Alive (Canadian TV Program)
''Man Alive'' is a Canadian television program about faith and spirituality. It took its name from a poem by St. Irenaeus, a 2nd-century Bishop of Lyon who wrote: ''The glory of God is man fully alive, and the life of man is the vision of God.'' The program debuted in 1967 on CBC Television, and was hosted by Roy Bonisteel for more than two decades. After several seasons of co-productions with Vision TV and the Life Network, the last episode aired on CBC Television on December 17, 2000. Roy Bonisteel
Roy Earnest Bonisteel, (29 May 1930 – 16 August 2013) was a Canadian journalist and, from 1967 to 1989, host of the CBC Television program '' Man Alive''. Life and career Bonisteel was born in Ameliasburg, Ontario and was a seventh generation native of the Quinte West region. He began his journalism career with newspapers in Belleville and Trenton, the ''Belleville Intelligencer'' and ''Trentonian'', respectively. In 1951, he began his broadcasting career in radio in the city of Belleville, Ontario, working at CJBQ. From this start he moved to CKTB radio in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1953. After 12 years at CKTB he left in 1964 to try for a job at a different station. He failed to obtain this job, so Bonisteel moved into religious broadcasting. Richard Caruthers Little (born November 26, 1938) is a Canadian-American impressionist and voice actor. Sometimes known as the "Man of a Thousand Voices", Little has recorded nine comedy albums and made numerous television appearances, including three HBO specials.
