81st Venice International Film Festival
The 81st annual Venice International Film Festival will be held from 28 August to 7 September 2024, at Venice Lido in Italy. Tim Burton's '' Beetlejuice Beetlejuice'' will open the festival on 28 August 2024. French actress Isabelle Huppert will serve as Jury President for the main competition. Italian actress and model Sveva Alviti will host the opening and closing ceremony. Australian filmmaker Peter Weir and American actress Sigourney Weaver will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the festival. Lorenzo Mattotti
Lorenzo Mattotti (born 24 January 1954) is an Italian comics artist as well as an illustrator. His illustrations have been published in magazines such as ''Cosmopolitan (magazine), Cosmopolitan'', ''Vogue (magazine), Vogue'', ''The New Yorker'', ''Le Monde'' and ''Vanity Fair (magazine), Vanity Fair''. In comics, Mattotti won an Eisner Award in 2003 for his ''Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde'' graphic novel. Biography Mattotti was born in Brescia (Lombardy). He studied architecture when he was young, but did not finish the course. Instead he became a comics artist. Andrew Haigh
Andrew Haigh (; born 7 March 1973) is a British filmmaker. Early life Haigh was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. He read History at Newcastle University. Career Haigh worked as an assistant editor on films such as ''Gladiator (2000 film), Gladiator'' and ''Black Hawk Down (film), Black Hawk Down'' before debuting as a writer/director with the short film ''Oil''. In 2009 he directed his first feature-length film, ''Greek Pete'', which debuted at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
