7th Legislative Assembly Of Quebec
The 7th Legislative Assembly of Quebec was the provincial legislature that existed in Quebec, Canada from June 17, 1890, to March 8, 1892. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Honoré Mercier was the governing party for most of the mandate. The party was also known as the Parti national which composed previously of Conservative dissents that formed a new party, the Parti National. However, Mercier was dismissed by the Lieutenant-Governor Auguste-Réal Angers due to a scandal and the final months of the Assembly was led by Charles Boucher de Boucherville of the Quebec Conservative Party. Due to the minority status of the government in the final months, an election was immediately called. Joseph-Éna Girouard
Joseph-Éna Girouard (June 17, 1855 – December 2, 1937) was a Canandian notary, lawyer and political figure. He represented the Drummond-Arthabaska and Arthabaska districts in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec beginning in 1886 and was appointed to the Yukon Territorial Council in 1898. Early life Born in Stanfold, Canada East, the son of Urbain Girouard and Rosalie Brunelle, Girouard was educated at the commercial college in Princeville and the Séminaire de Nicolet. Rufus Nelson England
Rufus Nelson England (May 4, 1851 – November 28, 1911) was a merchant and political figure in Quebec. He represented Brome in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1889 to 1897 as a Conservative. He was born in Knowlton, Canada East, the son of Israël England and Mary Villiers Curtis, and was educated at the Knowlton Academy and Stanstead College. England was a telegraph operator for the Canadian Pacific Railway and postmaster at Knowlton. Bonaventure is a provincial electoral district in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is located on the southern shore of the Gaspé Peninsula and encompasses several towns along the Baie des Chaleurs and the New Brunswick border. Berthier is a provincial electoral district in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Lavaltrie, Saint-Félix-de-Valois, Lanoraie, Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Berthierville, Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez, Saint-Gabriel and Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon. Bellechasse is a provincial electoral riding in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes a section of the city of Lévis as well as Saint-Henri, Saint-Anselme, Lac-Etchemin, Sainte-Claire, Beaumont, Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, Saint-Raphaël and Saint-Gervais. Adélard Turgeon
Adélard Turgeon, (December 18, 1863 – November 14, 1930) was a Canadian lawyer and politician. Born in Saint-Étienne-de-Beaumont (Beaumont), Lower Canada, Turgeon attended the Collège de Lévis before receiving a Bachelor of Laws degree from Université Laval at Quebec. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1887 and started a law career. He was created a King's Counsel in 1903. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in the 1890 election for Bellechasse. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1892 and 1897. In 1897, he was appointed commissioner of colonization and mines in the cabinet of Félix-Gabriel Marchand and continued the position in the cabinet of Simon-Napoléon Parent. Beauharnois (provincial Electoral District)
Beauharnois is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Élie-Hercule Bisson
Élie-Hercule Bisson (July 7, 1833 – May 28, 1907) was a notary and political figure in Quebec. He represented Beauharnois in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1873 to 1878, from 1886 to 1892 and from 1892 to 1889 as a Liberal member. He was born in Saint-Rémi, Lower Canada, the son of Alexis Bisson and Esther Lonctin. Bisson was educated at the Collège de Montréal and, after articling as a notary, was admitted to practice in 1860. He practised at Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague from 1860 to 1876. In 1861, he married Virginie Rapin. He was recorder for the town of Beauharnois, secretary for Beauharnois County and served as mayor of Beauharnois in 1894 and 1895. Bisson was a director for the Beauharnois Junction Railway. He was first elected to the Quebec assembly in an 1873 by-election held following the death of George-Étienne Cartier. Beauce was a former provincial electoral district in the Chaudière-Appalaches and Estrie regions of Quebec, Canada. It elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec (earlier known as the Legislative Assembly of Quebec). Jean Blanchet (Quebec Politician)
Hon. Jean Gervais Protais Blanchet (February 10, 1843 – December 11, 1908) was the second eldest of eleven children of Cyprien Blanchet, notary public of St. Francois, Beauce and his wife, Marie Gosselin. He was a descendant of one of Quebec’s oldest families who settled in Quebec in 1667. Born in St. Gervais, he was educated at Nicolet College. He entered Laval University to study law and was called to the Bar of Lower Canada in 1863. He practised law with the firm of Henri-Elzear Taschereau. He was created a Q.C. by the government of Quebec in 1876 and had the same honour conferred on him by the Canadian government in 1880. He was elected and served as batonnier of the Quebec section of the Bar from 1889-1891 and batonnier-general of the province 1890-1891.
