OTO Awards
''Osobnosť televíznej obrazovky'' (''Television Screen Personality''), more commonly abbreviated as ''OTO'', was a Slovak awards show recognizing the public figures and the work of popular culture in the country. Established by Art Production Agency (APA) in 2000, the television poll-based awards were voted on by the general viewing audiences. The annual ceremonies of the accolades were screened live by the national television network RTVS, usually in March for the previous calendar year. The categories awarded regularly, included Program, Actor, Actress, Male and Female Singer, as well two special awards; Hall of Fame and Absolute ''OTO''. The announcement of awards' discontinuation was announced in 2022, following negative controversies in previous years, pandemic delays, declining popularity and high production costs. Emília Vášáryová, Doctor Artis Dramaticae (hon.) (; born 18 May 1942) is a Slovak stage and screen actress, referred to as the "First Lady of Slovak Theater". During her over five decades long career, she has received numerous awards including the Meritorious Artist (1978), Alfréd Radok Award (1996), Czech Lion Award Golden Goblet Award (2008), and most recently the honorary degree Doctor Artis Dramaticae Honoris Causa (2010) as the only female to date, and ELSA (2010). Janko Kroner
Janko Kroner (born 1 June 1956) is a Slovak film, television and stage actor. Once a regular cast of the Slovak National Theatre, Slovak National Theater (SND) (1987–2009), Kroner began his acting career as part of the New Scene (1982–86). In the mid 1990s, alongside staging for his home theater, he gradually began appearing in a local VA-based ensemble called a.ha. Theater, a.ha. In the most recent decade, he has been known as the frontman of the Malá scéna Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, STU, a body supervised by Kroner through 2010-2011. As a member of the Slovak acting "dynasty" that span three generations to date, Kroner himself has received numerous nominations in his native country, including two LitFond Awards for Performing Arts in Drama, as well two television-focused ''OTO Awards'' as OTO Award for TV Male Actor, TV Male Actor, respectively.
