6th Intelligence Squadron
The United States Air Force's 6th Intelligence Squadron is an intelligence unit located at Osan Air Base, Korea. During World War II, as the 6th Radio Squadron, Mobile, it gathered intelligence for 10th Air Force from listening posts in India. Mission The mission of the 6th Intelligence Squadron is to execute 24/7 imagery and analytical operations, as part of the Distributed Ground System-Three (DGS-3), to support Seventh Air Force during armistice and war. History World War II The squadron was first established in the Signal Corps at Hamilton Field shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor as the 140th Signal Radio Intelligence Company. Victory over Japan Day (also known as V-J Day, Victory in the Pacific Day, or V-P Day) is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in World War II, in effect bringing the war to an end. Camp Anza
Camp Anza was a United States Army installation, in what is now Riverside, California, during World War II. Construction began on July 3, 1942, and was completed on February 15, 1943. The camp was named after Juan Bautista de Anza, an early explorer who camped near the site in 1774. The US Army purchased the 1,240-acre site from the Willits J. Hole Ranch (1910–1942), a barley and wheat farm. Before 1910 the land was part of Rancho La Sierra (1797–1910). The post was activated on December 2, 1942, initially designated as Arlington Staging Area and Arlington Special Training Center, and renamed Camp Anza on December 12, 1942.
