Channel 6 - Lawrence, KS was a 24-hour news cycle, 24-hour local information channel based in Lawrence, Kansas which served Douglas County, Kansas, Douglas County, Leavenworth County, Kansas, Leavenworth County and Wyandotte County, Kansas, Wyandotte County west of Interstate 435. Owned by Midco Communications, the channel was based at the company's corporate headquarters at New Hampshire and Seventh Streets (near the offices for former sister newspaper, the ''Lawrence Journal-World'') in downtown Lawrence. Previously, the channel was called ''6 News Lawrence''. Newscasts ceased after Midco Communications bought the organization in July 2017. KFDM (channel 6) is a television station in Beaumont, Texas, United States, affiliated with CBS, The CW Plus, and Fox. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which provides certain services to Port Arthur–licensed Dabl affiliate KBTV-TV (channel 4) under joint sales and shared services agreements (JSA/SSA) with Deerfield Media. Both stations share studios at the I-10/US 69 (Eastex Freeway) interchange in Beaumont, while KFDM's transmitter is located in Vidor, Texas. KFDM also previously served the Lake Charles, Louisiana, market as the market's default CBS station until KSWL-LD signed-on February 15, 2017 (especially since Lafayette affiliate KLFY-TV's coverage was severely crippled by its low-power digital signal on channel 10; KLFY's analog signal could easily cover Lake Charles). KRIS-TV (channel 6) is a television station in Corpus Christi, Texas, United States, affiliated with NBC and The CW Plus. It is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company alongside low-power dual Telemundo affiliate/ independent station K22JA-D; Scripps also provides certain services to CBS affiliate KZTV (channel 10) under a shared services agreement (SSA) with SagamoreHill Broadcasting. The stations share studios on Artesian Street in downtown Corpus Christi, while KRIS-TV's transmitter is located in Robstown, Texas. History KRIS-TV began broadcasting on May 22, 1956 as the first VHF television station in the area beating former rival KZTV by four months. It aired an analog signal on VHF channel 6 and had studios on South Staples Street in Downtown Corpus Christi. WATE-TV (channel 6) is a television station in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, affiliated with American Broadcasting Company, ABC and owned by Nexstar Media Group. The station's studios are located in the Greystone (Knoxville, Tennessee), Greystone mansion on North Broadway/Tennessee State Route 33, SR 33/Tennessee State Route 71, SR 71/U.S. Route 441, US 441, and its transmitter is located on Sharp's Ridge in North Knoxville. History Channel 6 was East Tennessee's first television station, signing on the air at 8 p.m. on October 1, 1953, as WROL-TV. The race to be the first television station in the eastern part of the state was won by WROL-TV when the tower of WJHL-TV in Johnson City, Tennessee, Johnson City (ironically, now a sister station to the Knoxville station) collapsed a few months earlier. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group, which provides certain services to dual ABC/ CW+ affiliate WLAJ (channel 53) under a shared services agreement (SSA) with Mission Broadcasting. WLNS-TV and WLAJ share studios on East Saginaw Street in Lansing's Eastside section; through a channel sharing agreement, the stations transmit using WLAJ's spectrum from a tower on Van Atta Road in Okemos, Michigan. History WJIM-TV The station signed on May 1, 1950, as WJIM-TV and was owned by Harold F. Gross along with WJIM radio (1240 AM), through WJIM, Inc. It is Michigan's second-oldest television station outside Detroit (behind WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids). Gross had started WJIM, the oldest continually operated commercial radio station in Lansing, in 1934; both stations were named after his son Jim.
