Channel 6 - Lawrence, KS was a 24-hour news cycle, 24-hour local information channel based in Lawrence, Kansas which served Douglas County, Kansas, Douglas County, Leavenworth County, Kansas, Leavenworth County and Wyandotte County, Kansas, Wyandotte County west of Interstate 435. Owned by Midco Communications, the channel was based at the company's corporate headquarters at New Hampshire and Seventh Streets (near the offices for former sister newspaper, the ''Lawrence Journal-World'') in downtown Lawrence. Previously, the channel was called ''6 News Lawrence''. Newscasts ceased after Midco Communications bought the organization in July 2017. Tonganoxie (pronounced ) is a city in Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 5,573. History Tonganoxie was platted in 1866. It was named for a local Native American Chief from the Delaware Tribe whose name means "shorty" in the Delaware language. Piper is a neighborhood within Kansas City, Kansas, United States. Before Piper was annexed in 1991, it was formerly an unincorporated semi-rural area, similar to Turner. Basehor, Kansas
Basehor is a city in Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States which is included statistically in the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 6,896. History In exchange for extensive Delaware holdings in the state of Indiana, on September 24, 1829, the United States government ceded a large tract of land to the Delaware Indians. Basehor is built on a small part of this tract. The Delawares held this land, or at least parts of it, until the 1860s. On July 4, 1866, the Secretary of the Interior of the United States was offered for sale what was left of the Delaware lands, then referred to as the Delaware Diminished Reserve, for not less than $2.50 per acre. The Leavenworth, Pawnee, and Western Railroad Company subsequently bought all of the remaining land on January 7, 1886.
