The 6 Hours of Portimão is an endurance race for sports cars held at Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. History The Algarve International Circuit was constructed in 2008 and has hosted European Le Mans Series races before with the 4 Hours of Portimão. In January 2021, it was announced that the track would host the opening round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, replacing the cancelled round at Sebring. On 26th February, 2021 it was confirmed that the race would take place behind closed doors. The race was initially scheduled to take place on the 2-4 April, 2021 but was later rescheduled to the second race of the season, held on the 12-13 June, 2021. On 29 September 2022, the calendar of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship was announced on their website and YouTube channel. The 4 Hours of Portimão (also known as 4 Hours of Algarve) is an endurance race for sports cars, held at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portugal. The first races were held in 2009 and 2010 as ''1000 Kilometres of Algarve'', as part of Le Mans Series calendar. Since 2017, it is run in 4 hours format, as part of the European Le Mans Series. History The 1000 Kilometres of Algarve was run for the first time in 2009, and was the third round of the Le Mans Series. The race was won by Pescarolo Sport, whilst Quifel ASM Team won the LMP2 category, Alphand Aventures won the GT1 category, and JMW Motorsport won the GT2 category. The race was held again in 2010, and again was the third round of the Le Mans Series. 2021 8 Hours Of Portimão
The 2021 8 Hours of Portimão was an endurance sports car racing event held at the Algarve International Circuit, Algarve, Portugal, on 13 June 2021. It served as the second round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, and was the first running of the event as part of the championship. The race marked the debut of the Glickenhaus Racing car called the 007 LMH. The race was originally scheduled to be the opening round of the championship, replacing a race at Sebring International Raceway in Florida due to travel issues relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The race was later postponed from the original date of 4 April due to quarantine regulations in Portugal, meaning it would no-longer be the opening round. Toyota GR010 Hybrid
The Toyota GR010 Hybrid is a sports prototype racing car developed for the 2021 Le Mans Hypercar rules in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The car is the successor of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid, which competed in the WEC from 2016 to 2020, achieving 2 double WEC world titles and 3 straight victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2018 to 2020. The GR010 Hybrid was revealed online on 15 January 2021. Development The GR010's design is inspired by the Toyota GR Super Sport Concept presented at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon, considered to be the GR010's road version counterpart.
