The 65th (2nd Yorkshire, North Riding) Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1756 as the 2nd Battalion, 12th Regiment of Foot. The 65th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed "The Borinqueneers" during the Korean War for the original Taíno Indian name for Puerto Rico (Borinquen), is a Puerto Rican regiment of the United States Army. The regiment's motto is ''Honor et Fidelitas'', Latin for ''Honor and Fidelity''. The Army Appropriation Bill created by an act of Congress on 2 March 1899, authorized the creation of the first body of native troops in Puerto Rico. On 30 June 1901, the "Porto Rico Provisional Regiment of Infantry" was organized. On 1 July 1908, Congress incorporated the regiment into the Regular Army as the Puerto Rico Regiment of Infantry, United States Army. The 65th Air Defense Artillery was a training regiment in the United States Army. During World War I the unit was a tractor drawn (TD) unit equipped with British BL 9.2 inch Howitzers. When it was reactivated in Panama in 1924 it became an (AA) anti aircraft unit equipped with the 3-inch Gun M1918. 65th Armoured Regiment (India)
65th Armoured Regiment, is an armoured regiment which is part of the Armoured Corps of the Indian Army. Formation Raised after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, on 1 September 1966, as the 65th Cavalry, its designation was changed to 65th Armoured Regiment in August 1967. The first commanding officer was Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier) K.K. Kaul. The class composition was Dogras, Jats and Rajputs. Equipment The regiment was initially equipped with the upgunned Sherman Mk IV and Mk V tanks. It was later equipped with Vijayanta tanks. 65th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment
The 65th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, nicknamed the "Second Scotch Regiment" was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment mustered into service in May 1862 and was captured at the Battle of Harper's Ferry. After being paroled and exchanged, the regiment was sent to Kentucky and assigned to the XXIII Corps. The regiment participated in the Knoxville campaign, the Atlanta campaign, the Franklin–Nashville campaign, and the Carolinas campaign. The soldiers were mustered out in July 1865. The 65th New York Infantry Regiment (or 1st United States Chasseurs) was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment wore distinctive chasseur styled uniforms.
